A fun run will take to the streets of Brisbane this weekend with a tasty twist.
Piping hot pizza will be waiting at the finish line for more than 700 runners who weave their way around Brisbane on Saturday for the second annual Pizza Run.
Kicking of at City Botanic Gardens, participants will run, walk or roll 10km, 5km or 1.5km- and the further they go, the more pizza they’ll earn.
Pizza Run founder Ben Walsh said some would be sweating it out for more than just a slice of pizza, with entrants encouraged to raise funds for charity.
He said those who had nominated a cause close to their hearts would be more inspired and motivated to run.
“If spending time outdoors, connecting with others and getting active doesn’t excite you – then I’m sure a piping hot slice of Domino’s pizza waiting for you at the finish line will,” he said.
Domino’s ANZ chief marketing officer Adam Ballesty said Pizza Run, which is also held in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, was about people from all backgrounds and fitness levels coming together for some fun.
“The purpose of the event is to create an accessible way for people to get into running by eliminating the competitive edge,” he said.
Annabelle and Sophie Cummings, from North Brisbane, said were excited to hit the pavement.
“We love spending time outdoors with Mum and Dad, and also love pizza. This weekend, we get to do both,” Annabelle said.
The races will begin at 9.35am.
