A well-known cab company has come under fire after a disabled elderly customer, who fell while leaving one of its cabs was allegedly ignored by the driver.

The 83-year old woman’s daughter, who wished to remain anonymous, said she found her mum minutes after a Black & White Cabs driver dropped her home at a north Brisbane address last week.

“I saw the taxi at the end of my driveway, on my security camera with its doors closed. I couldn’t see mum as she was on the ground,” the daughter said.

“Mum was conscious and knowing I couldn’t help her up on my own I stepped onto the street to look for help. I saw the taxi stopped on the side of the road in the dark about 100 meters away. I signalled for them to come back and help, then they drove off.”

She said she found her mother with bleeding grazes on both legs and a mark on her face, where she had hit the ground, and a sore wrist.

The woman said she signalled for her mother's cab driver to come back to help her but claims they drove off.

“Mum is not prone to falling over and told me with confidence that the driver reached over and closed the door, saw her on the ground and then drove off,” the woman claimed.

“It was quite obvious the driver could see her there as she fell right on kerb of the driveway (where she was dropped off) and because he did a U-turn right in front of her.

The woman said she had made multiple attempts to contact Black & White Cabs and was met with answering machines until five days after her first call.

“What upsets me is not the cab drivers’ behaviour, but Black & White Cabs approach, when all I wanted was their assistance,” she said.

The woman posted her frustration to social media and received more than 150 comments of support for her mother’s experience.

Black & White Cabs said the business was committed to providing excellent customer service.

“The safety of our customers and employees is our top priority, and we take all the necessary steps to ensure the continued safety of everyone in the community,” the company said.

“All complaints are centrally managed and investigated in an equitable, objective and unbiased manner through our complaints handling process.

“All complaints are managed confidentially and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
