Ever wondered who brews Brisbane’s best coffee? The polls are in and we can now reveal the city’s best hole-in-the-wall coffee shops and cafes, as voted by you.

A HOT cup of coffee is so much more than just a morning ritual or caffeine hit. But

who brews it best? We’ve done the hard work and brought to you Brisbane’s best hole-in-the-wall coffee shops and cafes.

Last week, we asked you to vote for your favourite coffee spots and you answered back in droves.

Today, The Courier-Mail and U on Sunday brings you the full list of Brisbane’s top 10 coffee shops and cafes, as voted by you.

10. Bean on Dean, Toowong

A quaint suburban cafe with quirky mismatched furniture, featuring a table made from an old door, serves up mild brews from Campos coffee roasters.

9. Coffee Anthology, Brisbane City

126 Margaret St, Brisbane City, 4000

This city favourite gives coffee lovers the choice of beans from a stack of quality Brisbane roasters including Padre, Almanac, and Therefore Coffee as well as Sydney roasteries Sample Coffee and Proudmary to name a few. Customers choose from cold drip, espresso and filter coffee.

8. Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters, Albion

97 Sandgate Rd, Albion, 4010

Tucked away on the back streets of Albion, is a roastery and coffee shop in one. With beans roasted on-site customers can get close to the action by stopping in for a light bite with their espresso, filter or cold brew from a choice of five blends. Beans are for sale or wholesale and also supply its sister cafe in Bardon, Rainworth Genera.

7. She Bangs, Albion

1/21 Collingwood St, Albion, 4010

A rustic warehouse style cafe with all-day brekkie and coffee using Genovese beans roasted by the original Genovese family in Melbourne. As well as espresso coffee, the cafe make their own cold brew which goes perfectly with their scrumptious home-made brownies.

6. The Wired Owl, Sandgate

227 Rainbow St, Sandgate, 4017

A community hub close to Shorncliffee Pier, this suburban gem offers a rotating single origin blend from Hendra’s Wolff Coffee Roasters. As well as your standard espresso pour with a choice of regular milk, almond, soy, coconut, macadamia and oat alternatives. They also offer cold drip and their own bottled cold press.

5. Bunker Coffee, Milton

This now not-so-secret hidden bunker tucked in a backstreet of Milton is for the serious coffee connoisseur. Alongside their house blend, Five Senses Dark Horse, every week they change their filter roast and single origin, as well as highlighting a special guest roaster weekly allowing patrons to travel the world with their morning cuppa. They also do cold filter, their own bottled iced lattes and make their own organic hot chocolate blend.

4. Elixir Stafford, Stafford

10-12 Hayward St, Stafford

Roasting their own coffee on site, this suburban gem offers the ultimate way to kick start your day. Their classic Italian espresso blend has picked up a swag of national awards, while at the café you’ll find a rotating mix of beans to keep things fresh for customers. A must try is their specialty eight-hour drip brew.

3. Death Before Decaf, New Farm

3/760-766 Brunswick St, New Farm

Heavily tattooed staff blast death metal music 24-hours a day, seven days a week at what is arguably Brisbane’s most unique coffee haunt. Loved by ambos, the police, heavy metal bands and everyone in between, it sells the smoothest of brews using Bellissimo beans alongside Butterbing cookies and doughnuts from The Bread Hound in St Lucia. They are set to release their own bottled cold brew next month.

With three Brisbane CBD outlets, you know Espresso Engine takes its coffee seriously. But it’s their Turbot St location that has won over the people serving their custom designed blend of Merlo coffee. Available black, white and iced, they also sell the beans to take home for those who can’t get enough.

1. Paddock Espresso, Grange

38 Chermside St, Grange

Pouring Bellissimo Coffee’s Ultimo blend, this tiny suburban caffeine haunt knows just how to make a crowd-pleasing cup of Joe. They serve it black, white and iced, with Milk Lab coconut, soy and almond milks available for those who choose to ditch traditional dairy. Just as popular as their brews is their range of house-made treats, with their chocolate and raspberry fudge slice legendary among customers.
