Who is Brisbane’s best vet?
10. Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery (ACVet) | 739 Albany Creek Rd, Albany Creek QLD 4035
Serving the Pine Rivers and North Brisbane area for over 25 years, the clinic looks after creatures of all sizes.
“At Albany Creek Vets we have a full range of medical and surgical facilities, diagnostic equipment as well as modern anaesthetic equipment and anaesthetic monitoring systems (while animals are under anaesthetic), in house blood testing, digital radiography (X-rays), dental equipment, dental digital radiography, ultrasound and plenty of onsite parking,” a statement on the clinic website read.
9. Wynnum Manly Veterinary Hospital | 232 Bay Terrace, Wynnum QLD 4178
Describing the clinic as warm and welcoming, veterinarians at the clinic aim to make the trip as stress-free as possible.
“It is our goal here at Wynnum Manly Vet Hospital to solve your pet’s health issues in a timely and cost-effective manner, helping your pet maintain the best possible health,” a statement on the clinic website read.
8. Anvet Kedron Veterinary Surgery | 382 Gympie Rd, Kedron QLD 4031
The Kedron clinic focuses on providing excellence in veterinary care.
“We have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere servicing all our patient and client needs honestly and reliably,” a statement on the clinic website read.
7. Maleny Veterinary Services | 27 Coral St, Maleny QLD 4552
Practice owner Debbie Thorne said Maleny Veterinary Services cares for all animals.
“I think it’s important for people to remember that within an hour from the centre of Brisbane city, there are still vet practices that care for every imaginable critter, from mice to camels and everything in between.” she said.
“Even as a small, independent practice we maintain our ‘old-fashioned’ care ideals because animals don’t work on human time. If we have to deliver a calf in a freezing cold paddock in the middle of the night, we just get it done.”
6. Monier Vet Clinic | 166 Monier Rd, Darra QLD 4076
The family-owned clinic has been running for 13 years, with a focus on providing exceptional health care to animals.
“Our veterinarian team have a total of 88 practising years between them which makes them highly knowledgeable and able to provide a high level of love and care for your companions,” spokeswoman Megan McCubbin said.
“Beyond medical expertise, they understand the emotional bond you share with your pet. It’s a place where your pet’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do.”
5. Tarragindi Veterinary Surgery | 1 Bapaume Rd, Tarragindi QLD 4121
Offering a tailored solution to each client, the clinic focuses on providing “thoughtful and gentle” examinations.
“We take the time to listen and answer all of your questions and work closely with you to provide the best treatment plan for your pet,” a statement on the clinic website read.
4. Redlands Veterinary Clinic | 433 Boundary Rd, Thornlands QLD 4164
Described by Dr Katria Lovell as a “fixture” of Redlands, the clinic has been open for over 30 years.
“We are extremely proud to now have two generations of Lovell’s working here at the clinic, which is completely family owned and operated,” she said.
“We pride ourselves on a team based approached to every case seen here at the clinic. Under the watchful eyes of founding partners Drs David and Gail Lovell, and their daughters Dr Kat and Practice Manager Abbey, every case is reviewed as a team so that you can be assured of consistency whenever you visit the clinic. We welcome all companion animals, including dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets, as well as horses in our fully equipped equine hospital.”
3. Mcdowall Vets | Shop 8A McDowall Village Shopping Centre, 109 Beckett Road, McDowall QLD 4053
With a focus on providing exceptional quality care, the clinic describes pets as part of their family.
“We are recognised locally as leaders in what we do and pride ourselves in always exceeding your expectations. We offer exceptional, compassionate, quality vet care combined with a good dose of common sense,” a statement on the clinic website read.
2. Hey Bud | 25 Riding Rd, Hawthorne QLD 4170
Hey Bud was founded by a husband and wife team with “big plans” to help animals.
“Pet wellbeing needs to be done differently and every day we wake up challenging how things are done and finding ways to help your buds,” co-founder Georgia Bornhutter said.
“No two buds are the same, and nor is the way we care for them.
“We’ve created a welcoming space where pets are nurtured and their humans love the experience. It’s a place where we build a community around our love for pets and our keen desire to understand them better.”
The location of the clinic was once a butcher shop, which Georgia believes is one of the unique parts of the veterinary experience at Hey Bud.
“It’s a quirky twist of fate that has seen our space shift from catering animals to catering to animals,” she said.
1. Toowong Family Vet
Passion for animal welfare radiates throughout the clinic. With a focus on helping rehabilitate stray animals, Toowong Family Vet accepts animals from all backgrounds.
“Over the years, Toowong Family Vet has treated, cared for and rehomed dozens of stray cats,” Nurse Tahlia said.
“If we have the capacity to care for an animal that needs our help, then that is what we will do.”
When it comes to community Tahlia has said Toowong Family Vet focuses on supporting locals.
“From our weekly puppy preschool classes where we engage with puppies and their human parents at the start of our journey together, to the work we do for local rescue organisations, our role in the community has been a privilege,” she said.
“For the first seven years of Toowong Family Vet, we were graced with a daily visit from Joyce, the most beloved senior community member who visited us to have a chat and pat our clinic cats.
“We said a sad farewell to our Joyce during Covid when she sadly passed away, but we will always remember her as she is memorialised in a touching photograph in our clinic reception.”
