Don't miss out on the headlines from Best of Brisbane. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Brows have always been a fashion statement but shaping has never been as important as it is now.
Trends evolved with the influences of Cara Delevingne, Bambi, Jess Hunt and we’re now reshaping the 90s and 00s thin brows back to thick, fluffy, natural brows.
After calling for nominations and putting the shortlist out to a vote, we have our winners for the best brow bars in Brisbane.

“This service has completely changed the brow game and it transforms every client‘s face and brows – I’m obsessed,” the beauty salon owner says.
Jacqui Balaskas has immersed herself in all things brows and beauty since 2017 but only recently opened up her business after coming out of Queensland’s first lockdown last year.

“We’re all about empowering each other, our clients, education and having a positive impact on as many people as we see,” she says.

Known as the original clinic to introduce the trend of feather touch tattooing to Brisbane, they’re able to emulate the look of natural hair in the form of a semi permanent tattoo.
Advanced cosmetic tattoo artist Bree Cowen says the result is natural, beautiful and leaves their clients feeling youthful and confident all year round.
“We use a microblade to implant pigment into the skin to create a result that mimics your brows natural hairs,” Bree says on the feather touch technique.
“Replacing hairs that have been over plucked, brows that have scarring or hair loss due to alopecia or cancer treatments.
“Gone are the days of block tattoos that can look harsh,” she says.
Masters in the ‘fluffy’ natural brow tattoo, their clients are always excited and feel very comfortable visiting the beauty studio for their annual refresh appointments.

By Roxy may have only opened its doors last December but Roxy Lazar and her team of two are on the grind non-stop with their ever growing popularity.
A shape and tint is the signature service at By Roxy with microblading coming in a close second.
Brow shaping with a tint that includes a consultation and assessment of the face to enhance your natural brow shape. They’ll use a gentle wax to remove the finer fluffier hairs to create a clean line and then mix a custom blend of tint to complement your brow and hair colour. The service finishes off with tweezing to define and perfect the shape of your brows.
Roxy Lazar believes creating a relaxed environment, being realistic and honest with their By Roxy family is something both the team and clients value.
“I feel we build good relationships with our clients, genuinely listen to what they would like out of their appointments, and having many years of experience has definitely given us a good reputation,” the master brow stylist says.
“We are growing quickly, which I am so grateful for.
“I believe more people are continuing to see when a brow is shaped correctly it creates a more youthful and fresh appearance to the face which then gives us less maintenance on other treatments we may be adding to our monthly regime.
“Let‘s be honest – we are all after a little less maintenance these days right?
“From the infamous 90s brows, this industry keeps growing and is only getting better,” Roxy says.

For ‘pretty eyes’, look no further than brow specialist Kellie-Anne Lincoln. The eyebrow veteran of 11 years is known for her sculpting and waxing as well as her tint, henna and brow lamination work.
Pretty Eyes’ owner-operator Kellie-Anne says henna, a plant-based semipermanent dye, has become a very popular option over the years with her clients thanks to its bold and long-lasting colour.
“My clients love it because they don’t have to use a brow pencil for a couple of weeks after the treatment,” she says about the vegan and cruelty free treatment.
The Kangaroo Point based beauty therapist also said she’s all about keeping her client’s brows thick and full.
“As we get older, our hair tends to naturally thin out so I like to keep as much hair as I can but still add a nice shape and arch to accentuate the brows,” she says.
Her pro tip for keeping brows beautiful is to brush them with a nourishing/conditioning brow serum each night and to keep them thick with nice long tails to elongate your eyes.
2. Blush Beaute, Red Hill
2/32 Waterworks Rd, Red Hill
Instagram: @blushbeaute
A professional yet down-to-earth environment makes for the perfect setting to relax and see all your #browgoals turn into a reality.
Eyebrows of all sorts are catered for and loved at this Red Hill beauty salon but nano-dusting, a new and natural tattoo-like treatment carried out only in the upper skin layers for perfect eyebrows, as well as popular brow lamination are the go-to choices of treatment.
After two years as an experienced esthetician, founder of Blush Beaute Caitlin O’Rourke opened her beauty studio in 2013, which has grown into one of Brisbane’s favourite brow bars where every client is treated like family.
For Cait, the key to beautiful brows is individuality.
“No two brows are alike nor should they be, I love seeing and creating a different style for each of my clients so they suit their personality, their facial structure and their lifestyle,” she says.
“I do everything within my power to make my clients feel fabulous.”
1. Elysian Cartel, Graceville and Greenslopes
172 White St, Graceville
Instagram: @elysiancartel
Led by the talented Mariana Fataccioli, Elysian Cartel has taken the top spot in this year’s search for Brisbane’s best brow bar.
A visit to the Cartel will get your brows to go from thin to thick, unruly to manageable, from shapeless to the best shape of your life.
The beauty studio owner and master technician knows exactly what the women (and men) of today want when it comes to brows.
“We want them thick, we want them symmetric, we want a personalised shaping and this takes more than just a quick wax, it is an art to achieve that flawless, natural look,” Elysian Cartel’s Mariana Fataccioli says.
When it comes to their success, Mariana narrows it down to three simple three things: their artistry, customer service and their environment.
“I’m internationally trained and continue to find the best products and techniques to give my staff the best training and our clients the Best Brows in Brisbane,” she says.
“One thing you get with us which we’re told is hard to find, is that regardless of the stylist you go to at our salon, the standard and end result is consistent so even if you can’t get in with your preferred stylist, you’ll still walk out happy.
“Everyone on our the team are exceptional girls with good hearts, they are kind, caring, helpful, easy to talk to and also take the hint if all you want to do is be silent and relax.
“Nothing is ever too hard or a problem for us, we are genuinely here to serve.
“Lastly and something that is very close to my heart is to provide a comfortable environment for our clients,” Mariana says on the importance of creating a warm and welcoming space.
Their most popular service is appropriately named Lazy Girls’ Dream for its time saving magic and is a combination of two services; a lash lift and a lamination, sculpt and tint.
“It’s our most popular services and can save you 10-15 minutes in the mornings, a little bit of brow gel, a touch of mascara and you’re good to go,” the owner of Brisbane’s best brow studio for 2021 says.
To support your favourite brow specialists through Covid and lockdowns, her advice is to help where you’re able to whether that’s financially or socially.
“If they take deposits to secure appointments, leave them as credit for the next time you’re in or stock up on retail products or purchase gift vouchers for friends and family,” Mariana says.
“Like, comment and share their stories or posts, or best of all, share your favourite selfie of your brow brows and tag them.
“While financial is immediate, a shout out to your friends and followers helps grow brand awareness for future growth,” she says.
