We fished for Brisbane’s best sushi and after asking our readers to vote for their favourites, we have found Brisbane’s top 10.
10. Sushi Train, Mango Hill
Mango Hill Market Place, 1-21 Halpine D, Mango Hill
In 10th place is a cult favourite. This chain restaurant is well known for rolling the goods and their Mango Hill store is one of the best. Sushi Train brought the rotation sushi bar system to Australia originally for the first time over 25 years ago.

What looks like a regular sushi train is actually elevated when it comes to the senses. Sushi & Nori’s ever-changing sushi menu makes for a taste sensation any time of year.

Natsumi Sushi comes in at 8th spot. The key to Natsumi Sushi’s success is simple: to provide quality food that tastes great every single time. They pride themselves on serving their customers delicious genuine Japanese dishes.

It’s simple. Graceville has been graced with a good selection of great sushi.

The Japanese word ‘oishii’ translates to delicious or tasty, so it’s only fitting that Oishii Sushi Bar makes it on our list of Brisbane’s best sushi and takes spot number six. Known for quality sushi that hits the mark every time. If you’re ever in the Sunnybank area, here’s a restaurant you know you can count on.

The brand has solidified a unique part of Japanese food culture in Australia and it’s Carseldine store is serving up the sushi the way the people like it. Sushi Train’s colourful plates and even more vibrant sushi are a staple in the lives of sushi lovers all around the country but the Carseldine team are seaweed wrap pros and take 5th place.

Its prime location and affordable standard $3.80 price makes the mouths of city workers water, making it the perfect stop for a maki or nigiri lunch break or quick after-work dinner. The tablets placed around the counter and on tables mean ordering exactly what you want has never been easier.
3. Sono, Portside
Level 1, Portside Wharf, 39 Hercules St
Found at the Portside Wharf in Hamilton, Sono is all about bringing finesse to their execution. This fine dining restaurant is all about giving their guests the ultimate dining experience so if you think their sashimi is too pretty to eat, think again because it tastes even better and coming in third place, most of Brisbane thinks so too.

A local favourite, Sushi Kotobuki is Brisbane’s little piece of Japan. ‘Kotobuki’ in English means to rejoice and relates to a happy event, so it makes sense that this East Brisbane restaurant brings joy to everyone who eats there. Serving traditional rolls and special rolls with a twist, it’s no wonder why everyone loves Kotobuki and was voted Brisbane’s first runner up for best sushi!

Sushi so good they’re listed twice. Sushi Edo’s Newmarket venue is the clear crowd favourite and takes the top spot as Brisbane’s supreme sushi. Their sushi conveyor is always full of delicious plates of sushi of all kinds. There’s something for the seafood lovers, chicken lovers, vego lovers and you too vegans. At just $3.80 a plate, the only question you’ll be asking is what to eat next.
