Charlotte Tilbury More Sex Eau de Parfum, $265 from mecca.com 

Charlotte Tilbury recently debuted their first-ever fragrance collection, inspired by the transformative power fragrance can have on emotions. Each fragrance in the line was created in an attempt to bottle an emotion, and Ms Tilbury also leant into colour theory to evoke those same feelings. 

Given the dating climate in 2024, obviously I was drawn to More Sex – a lusty, musk-meets-sandalwood concoction that practically begs you to don your bedroom eyes. Juniper berry oil, leather and a ‘seductive sexual accord’ (made from ambroxan, sexual musk, aldron) give the fragrance a nice complexity that’s surprisingly wearable, be it for a date or a date with your desk, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. 

When testing the fragrances, 84 per cent of survey respondents agreed that More Sex enhanced feelings of seduction. So be it placebo or science, I’ll be spritzing this one 'til the sun comes up.

Urban Jungle Melt Me Softly Cleansing Balm, $36 from sephora.com

Washing off whatever skincare, makeup, Pilates sweat and office stress has accumulated through the day, the double-cleanse step in my nighttime skincare routine is non-negotiable. Preferring a gentle emulsifying cleansing gel as step two, I’m always on the hunt for a product that can remove all others beforehand. I’ve tried out a few cleansing balms and oils this year, finding some formulas do little more than spread traces of mascara all over my face, so when Urban Jungle’s cleansing balm landed on my desk last month, my expectations were pretty high. 

Fast forward one month, and I’m happy to report the balm is still part of my nightly routine. Unlike some residue-leaving cleansing balms and oils that must be removed with a face cloth, this formula comes off easily with hot water. While I can’t attribute my skin’s improvement to this product alone, I have no doubt it’s played a crucial role.

I am officially at the stage of winter where I feel like nothing can save me. No matter how many hours of sleep I get, my skin is fatigued and dull. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, $139 from theiconic.com.au

An oldie but a goodie, Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair might not be the freshest skincare buy on the market right now but this beauty hero has icon status for a reason. First launched in 1982 as one of the first (if not the first) night serums in the industry, over 40 years later this product is still delivering exactly what it says on the bottle.

Between the bitterly cold winter winds of late and the unforgiving central heating system of an office environment, my skin has been dryer than ever recently. Enter Estee and Advanced Night Repair to help replenish, strengthen and rehydrate my skin overnight. After just one week of using this old favourite on my skin again I was reminded why it used to be a fixture in my nighttime beauty routine. Consider it reinstated as a bedside table staple for the foreseeable.

Discovering a new personal scent is like stumbling upon a pair of jeans that fit just right: both incredibly rare and genuinely thrilling. This one from Tsu Lange Yor is unlike anything I currently own so it very quickly claimed a spot in my fragrance rotation. The first thing that sold me was its unique blend of notes. It's both bold and subtle, fresh yet warm, and overall, sophisticated. This complexity gives the scent a really dynamic feel throughout the day. It has the perfect balance of floral and woody notes and is versatile enough to wear to the office during the day, but also elegant enough for an evening out. Personally, I’m really enjoying wearing it as my winter scent on these colder days, whether it’s to the office or to the markets on a chilly Saturday morning.

Lanolips 12-Hour Overnight Lip Mask, $19.95, adorebeauty.com.au

What's the number one problem we all face during winter? Dryness from top to toe. And while it’s somewhat easy to lather a rich cream or serum all over our face and body, finding a product that keeps our lips plump and juicy when the temperature drops comes with a few more complexities. This cult favourite from Lanolips has become a staple of my nightstand. Layering the balm on my lips is the last thing I do before clocking off for the evening, and time and time again, I wake up the next morning with my lips feeling amazing. A little bit of product goes a long way (12 hours to be exact), meaning a single tube will see you through the perils of winter.

Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Protect Leave-In, $56 from Adore Beauty 

With more heat styling tools added to my collection, I am trying out new hairstyles every week, from voluminous blowouts to sleek and straight. But with naturally curly and dry hair, heat protection is a must, so I've been using the Wella Ultimate Repair Protect Leave-In as an added shield from damaging temperatures. I run it through my hair when damp and then follow with heat protection spray as I style. Thanks to this product and continuously evolving tech, my hair has maintained health and shine even through this gloomy weather.

Ella Baché Rose Hydration Mist, $43 from adorebeauty.com.au

This month has been all about combatting dry skin for me, with the aforementioned central heating being a major contributing factor to my skin’s predisposition for dryness and redness of late. As well as adding ultra-hydrating serums to my nighttime skincare routine, I’ve also got a bottle of this hydrating and protecting mist on my desk for mid-workday refreshes. If my skin starts looking a little red or feeling dry and sore during the day, I simply spritz some of the mist over my face for a hit of hydration and because the mist is so fine it doesn’t damage your makeup. The rose scent is lovely too.

JVN Nurture Intense Hydration Mask, $59 from sephora.com.au

I’m a sucker for a slicked-back look, particularly on those days when my hair is too dirty to wear out. For the last few years I’ve been using a hair gel to master the perfect slicked back bun and as a result, I’ve lost a lot of strength in my hair that frames my face. When I heard you could achieve a slicked-back look with a leave-in hair mask, I literally RAN to my beauty cupboard and pulled out the first one I could find: the JVN Hydration Mask. I apply a good scoop to my roots, massaging it into my scalp before pulling it back and every time it looks polished and fresh, even when my hair is anything but. The best thing is that it doesn’t give that stiff, crunchy feel that hair gels and sprays often leave behind.

At the end of the day when I finally wash it out, my hair feels softer, smoother, and way more hydrated – it’s like giving my hair a much-needed drink every time I use it. After years of gel-induced damage, this has brought some much needed life back into my hair. A NEED for all my fellow slicked-back girlies.
