Considering a gym membership, but not there yet? This Wednesday, all you need to do to get your sweat on his a banana and a can-do attitude.

More than 60 gyms in southeast Queensland will ditch access passes on October 16 in celebration of National Banana Day.

It comes on the back of new research finding that 17 million Australians are thinking about getting a gym membership.

Participating Goodlife, Club Lime, Zap Fitness and other gyms, in collaboration with Australian Bananas, are encouraging those on the fence about buying a gym membership to head to their local gym, armed with a banana, to kickstart their fitness journey.

Club Lime, Goodlife, Zap Fitness and Hiit Republic are taking part in the promotion.

Simply purchase a banana from your local supermarket or fruit and veg market, and pack it in your gym bag, ready to present to staff at participating gyms, where it will give you access to a trial workout.

It might seem like an odd pairing at first glance, but Australian Bananas say that bananas are a ‘no-brainer’ post-workout snack, ‘packed with natural carbohydrates, vitamin B6 and potassium’.
