“Make it make sense!”

TikTok user @ainslieforsyth has taken to the app this week to share a hot take about cheese and bacon rolls, and how we store them.

“Does anyone else think about this?” she asked.

“As an Australian, I think we didn’t think about our climate when we adopted the leave it out of the fridge theory. Same goes with tomato sauce.

“I would never make a ham and cheese toastie then leave it on the bench all day. Health department checks the fridge temp logs for temps under 5c yet these are just chilling with the bread at a cosy 25c.

Commenters were torn

People were divided on whether or not they’d ever thought about how their cheese and bacon rolls were stored, with many saying it’s been an internal debate for a while.

“I was thinking about this the other day while eating one that I left in my car for 4 hours,” said one person.

“I think about this ALLLLLL THE TIMEEEEEEEEE,” another agreed.

“I don’t purchase these for that exact reason!” said a third.

“I stopped eating these for like 2 years because I couldn’t stop thinking about this!!!!” another person shared.

Others, though, weren’t as fussed, giving it a good old ‘she’ll be right’.

“It’s because it’s been fully cooked and any bacteria have been killed in the cooking process,” one person suggested.

“Why would they need to be refrigerated? It’s cured and then cooked meat,” said another.

“It's just one things we have no idea about, but accept - like the contents of a chicko roll - whatever it is, it hasn't killed us yet,” another added.

We have the answer!

In a statement to Kidspot, Bakers Delight confirmed that there is actually a right and a wrong way to store your cheese and bacon rolls.

“Our Cheese & Bacon Rolls are baked fresh from scratch every day,” they shared.

“The best storage advice is to keep them as airtight as possible, and if done so they can be stored for up to 48 hours.

“They can also be frozen to preserve their freshness.”
