Leading Adelaide restaurateurs Laura and Max Sharrad have announced they are expecting their first baby.
The couple, who are behind top local eateries Fugazzi Bar & Dining Room and Nido, described the impending arrival as “our little miracle” as they shared their joy on social media.
A former MasterChef runner-up, Laura and her husband of five years, Max, posted a series of happy snaps with pet dog Alfie on Instagram, revealing the new bub is due in April next year.
The couple were immediately swamped with wellwishers, including MasterChef judge Andy Allen and fellow SA hospitality identities.
The news comes after the couple revealed in June they had suffered a miscarriage.
Today, the expectant mum told The Advertiser it all still “feels like a dream”.
“Honestly, we’re just so overjoyed, we’re still taking it all in,” Sharrad said, adding the couple were keeping the gender a surprise until the birth.
“After loss, it’s definitely harder to celebrate straight away, but you can’t not help but smile knowing what’s happening.
“We cannot wait to be parents, and Alfie is ready for his big brother duties. And the love and support has been incredible.”
Laura, who starred on Ten’s reality cooking show in 2014, tied the knot with fellow chef Max in 2018.
Their romance began in 2015 when they met while working alongside each other in the kitchen of Jock Zonfrillo’s acclaimed restaurant Orana on Rundle St.
