A Gold Coast lottery winner who scored $2.6 million has revealed what he believes to be the secret behind his big win.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous, was one of two people who held the division one winning entries in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw. The other was from NSW.

He said he bought the 18-game QuickPick entry at the Arundel Plaza news agency on the Gold Coast.

The man said the secret behind his life-changing windfall was quite simple. In fact, he says he “manifested” his big win.

“‘For the past 18 months I’ve been saying it out loud for the universe, ‘I will win the lottery’,” he told officials from The Lott.

“Well, it goes to show it can work!”

The winner said it was “absolutely mind-blowing” when he received a call from The Lott to confirm his $2.6 million win.

“I’m struggling to comprehend it in all honesty. It just feels surreal,” he added.

“Until I see the prize land in my bank account, I don’t think my brain will fully accept that this has happened.”

The Queenslander has now spent two days trying to decide what kind of new car he should buy with his winnings.

He said he will not retire yet but plans to work fewer days.

“Two or three days a week sounds perfect, but the main problem I have is I can’t make a decision on which car I want to buy to get me there!” the man said.

“I’m sure it’ll come to me. It’s what I think about as I doze off at night. You could say it’s a dream come true!”

News.com.au previously spoke to Australia’s top financial advisers to ask what Aussies should do if they win big.

Financial Spectrum’s Brenton Tong, who has advised past winners, said it was best to “keep it under wraps”.

“Imagine you’ve killed someone and need help burying the body. Who do you tell? That’s who you tell you won the lotto,” he said.

Mr Tong also recommended using the money to pay off debts, talking to trusted financial advisers and investing wisely.
