While some hailed it 'a lifesaver', one person claimed it was quite the opposite, warning others hers "blew up!"

'Dyson dupe' Kmart selling $1000 for $99

The latest must-have item from Kmart has stirred up quite the conversation online after someone posted about the new $10 Bladeless Portable Handheld Fan.

The user took to the Kmart Hacks Facebook page and excitedly claimed: "These are going to go like hotcakes."

"There was one out to test, and I thought it was good. It has a few different speed settings," they added, attaching a photo of the range on sale at Kmart, featuring a grey, white, orange and pink fan.

"Mine blew up"

The fan, marketed as a chic and practical way to keep cool on the go, has a portable, bladeless design, USB charging, and three wind settings.

But not everyone is convinced it's worth the hype and took to the comments to share their brutally honest thoughts.

"Waste of money, they break very easy," one critical comment read, with multiple likes backing it up.

Another claimed: "I bought one to dry my fake lashes, and it legit takes forever to dry them compared to fans with blades!"

Another wrote: "Apparently very noisy?" and someone else warned, "Mine blew up." Yikes.

The fan’s charging and usage time also came under fire. While marketed with 2.5 hours of usage and a 5.5 hour charging time, a few users hinted it may not last as long as they hoped during real-world use.

"Takes the edge off if there's no breeze"

But for some, they couldn't stop raving about it.

One happy customer said, "I got this for when we go to Dreamworld. It definitely takes the edge off if there’s no breeze."

Another mum found the fan to be a lifesaver, especially for her baby.

She said: "Got one for my baby bag, has already come in handy when waiting for appointments and the AC was broken. My bub was overheating, but this was enough to keep her comfortable."

Then this commenter chimed in: "Bought one. Love it," while another said, "This would be good for summer!"

Seems like the jury is out on this one!
