A BUS driver has stepped in when a passenger was assaulted by four men on a public bus during an attempted robbery in Rapid Creek overnight

Injured girl is checked over paramedics and mother before being transported to hospital. Shortly before 10pm last night emergency services were called to Diamond Bay Reserve for a 16yr old female who had fallen 5-8m down into Rosa Gully. A friend understood to be about the same age has also climbed down to help before emergency services arrived on scene. Numerous services from Police Rescue, Fire Rescue, Special operation paramedics, Toll Rescue chopper Drs and police particpated in the lengthy rescue. The uninjured girl was rescued first and taken to hosptial for observation. The injured girl was finally rescued using a vertical rescue at 1:30am. nearly 3.5hrs after she fell. She was treated for chest and abdominal injuires along with possible spinal injuries before being taken to St Vincents Hosptial in a stable conditon.
