James Frizelle’s Automotive Group has capitalised on the market shift by hiring Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking staff to cope with demand.
Asian buyers account for 40 per cent of all sales at the Springwood luxury business, with management creating 70 jobs thanks to the growing population.
Senior customer care consultant Daniah Medallada is fluent in Mandarin and was taken on to assist the rapidly growing Chinese customer base to choose the prestige models.
“In the last six months I’ve really seen the demand from Chinese customers grow, it’s amazing,” Ms Medallada said.
“I usually help translate for a customer at least once a day, and the frequency is constantly increasing because, like Australians, Chinese people love high-quality cars.”
According to Ms Medallada, her most discerning Chinese customers were also proficient hagglers.
She said that was a large point of difference between Australian and Chinese customers.
