Theatre enthusiasts across Queensland are in for a treat as tickets go on sale today for ‘The Woman in Black’.
The critically acclaimed production, one of the longest-running shows in London’s West End, is set to bring its unique blend of suspense and horror to Toowoomba and Brisbane this April.
The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba will be the first to showcase this gothic masterpiece, with performances commencing on April 27, before moving to the Playhouse at QPAC in Brisbane, beginning April 30.
Based on the gothic novel by Susan Hill, ‘The Woman in Black’ narrates the chilling story of Arthur Kipps, a young solicitor who encounters a supernatural presence while attending a funeral in an isolated English village.
The production features two well-known Australia actors, John Waters and Daniel MacPherson, in lead roles.
Waters, known for his performances in ‘Breaker Morant’, ‘Rake’, and ‘Play School’, had previously starred in the Australian production of ‘The Woman in Black’ back in 2006.
MacPherson, who gained fame through ‘Neighbours’ and has acted in international series such as ‘Strike Back’ and ‘Foundation’, shared his excitement about bringing this thrilling show to Queensland audiences.
“I’m so excited to open this classic thriller in Toowoomba and Brisbane,” he said.
“After a 20 year break I returned to the theatre last year and when the season ended, I called my agent and said I need to do another play immediately! As it turns out, it’s another ghost story so I must be quite adept at scaring people! Brisbane can expect to be scared witless!”
Tickets for ‘The Woman in Black’ go on sale from January 29 at 10am at qpac.com.au.
