The Mystery of Dolphin Bay, starring Izabela Rose, is the latest movie filming in Queensland

Joining a slate of screen productions underway across Queensland, a new movie set on the state’s pristine beaches has moved into a Gold Coast hot spot.

Cameras have rolled on new adventure movie The Mystery of Dolphin Bay as film crews continue to move in to Queensland beaches this month.

The young adult movie from The Steve Jaggi Company began filming in South East Queensland late this week with a film set spotted at Snapper Rocks at Coolangatta.

The film stars American Disney star Izabela Rose as a 15-year-old working alongside her best friend (Ella Proberts) as a summer intern for a marine biologist when they discover a haunting local legend and a treasure map, leading them on a hunt to uncover the truth of the reef.

“I’m excited to be out of quarantine, and filming here in Queensland,” Rose said.

“I can relate to my character having to fly to the other side of the world for a new adventure, and I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks has in store for me.”

Written by Jacob Stock and directed by Christine Lucy, the film, supported by Screen Queensland, will shoot across Brisbane and the Gold Coast this month.

“The Gold Coast is the perfect location to create our fictional Dolphin Bay setting, and the region has everything on offer that we could need for the shoot,” producer Steve Jaggi said.

“We’ve assembled a talented young cast led by Izabela Rose, and I’m looking forward to seeing our cast and crew bring this intriguing story to life.”

Jaggi’s young adult series Dive Club, which filmed in Far North Queensland, is set to drop on Netflix Australia on November 29.

It comes as Young Rock season two continues filming around the Gold Coast and big budget romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, gets underway at Hamilton Island, with exclusion zones in effect for various Whitsundays waterways until the end of November before the production shifts to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
