The Bridgerton season 2 trailer just dropped and there’s plenty more scandal

Prepare yourselves for a scandalous love triangle, Simon and Daphne’s new baby, and a killer soundtrack.

Bridgerton S2 | Official Teaser Trailer has dropped!

Buckle in Bridgerton fans, Netflix just dropped the full trailer for season two and it looks genuinely good.

Why do I sound surprised? Because, like everyone else, I watched season one in lockdown and I wasn’t sure if it was actually good, or if everyone just hyped it because they were collectively bored, horny and sick of baking sourdough.

I’m pleased (and unashamed) to report that the trailer has left me genuinely excited for more, however. Don’t pretend you aren’t excited too, I won’t believe you.

Sadly, as we already knew, we’ve lost the superbly hot Regé-Jean Page – aka Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings – but the trailer shows enough intrigue and scandal to keep my attention.

Now that Daphne – played by Phoebe Dynevor – and Simon Bassett are nicely squared away in their marriage (despite those problematic moments), executive producer Shonda Rhimes has turned to finding the eldest Bridgerton son, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), a suitable wife for season two. Enter our new characters, the Sharma family.

If anyone has seen Sex Education (and if you haven’t, stop what you’re doing and go watch it now), you’ll recognise the clear love interest for this season, Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.

She’ll be joined by Charithra Chandran as her Sharma sister, Edwina, and Shelley Conn to round out the new family as mother, Lady Mary Sharma.

I know I teased a love triangle in the intro, and it looks like it’ll be between Anthony and the Sharma sisters – the absolute, SCANDAL.

Besides then we also get a little glimpse of Daphne and Simon’s little bub, a hint that Lady Whistledown is yet to be exposed to her cohorts (leave Penelope Featherington along) and a very enjoyable wet shirt scene, a little nod to Colin Firth’s infamous scene in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Appropriate, seeing as this show is Gossip Girl meets the famous Jane Austen tale.

We even see a hint that Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) finds a little romance, but by golly he’d better be good enough for her. She’s hands down my favourite.

The trailer does seem significantly less horny than season one (I refuse to reveal whether I think that’s a good or bad thing), although who knows, maybe Anthony will get it on with one of the sisters before the end of the season.

It also comes mere days after the new soundtrack was, once again featuring orchestral covers of epic pop songs.

Personally, my inner teenage heart is a flutter to hear Nirvana’s Stay Away, but there’s also Dancing On My Own by Robyn, Harry Styles’ Sign Of The Times and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham – a famous Bollywood song.
