Love Island host Sophie Monk made sure all eyes were on her and not the contestants during last night’s premiere.

Love Island host Sophie Monk made sure she stood out among all the half-naked contestants during last night’s season premiere, looking stunning in a very low-cut gown as she introduced the show.

Monk, 41, looked glamorous as ever in the opening seconds of Monday night’s premiere, introducing this season’s new batch of loved-up singles while wearing a stunning white gown with love heart patterns.

This season of Love Island is taking place at a villa in the Byron Bay hinterland – but it hasn’t been without controversy, as the local mayor wanted to shut down filming last month when a crew member for another production filming in the area, I’m A Celeb, tested positive to Covid.

Byron Shire mayor Michael Lyon said at the time he had lost faith in ITV Studio’s ability to follow Covid-safe rules.

“I am looking into our options this morning to rescind council approval for the Love Island production, from the same studios that brought I’m a Celebrity, and Covid, to the region,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

But filming continued, taking place at the luxury villa Amileka, a secluded contemporary dream house no doubt selected thanks to its sprawling 10 hectare estate and wow-factor architecture. The Islanders must couple up, stay together, and win over the hearts of the public, all while surviving the temptations of beautiful bombshells entering the villa.

And Love Island host Monk is enjoying her own love story off-screen too, engaged to fiance Joshua Gross.

Speaking to news.com.au in July, she said she wanted their upcoming wedding to be “quiet, low-key, and no drama for anyone”.

“I just want it to be an amazing day between us,” she said.

And Monk said she was touched to see fans were so happy for her engagement, after many years of being unlucky in love.

“Well, it’s just the best feeling ever. It’s so lovely. I think they know how unlucky in love I’ve been over the years. They’ve seen the good or bad, while I’ve been in the media for 20 years. I think it’s so nice that they were invested. I’m very lucky in that way.”
