“What on earth?” The Block judges have been left mortified during Sunday’s room reveals by one team’s dismal efforts.

The Block judges were left mortified after discovering one of the team’s rooms during Sunday’s reveals had barely been started, let alone finished.

Victorian best mates Hadyn and Ricky were preparing to be “skewered” for their master ensuite after sacking their builder Miller on Wednesday night’s episode.

That decision came after foreman Dan and The Block’s head builder came to inspect the waterproofing in their partially-built bathroom, finding a slew of issues before determining the space would need to be gutted and restarted from scratch.

It meant Ricky and Haydn were unable to present a room, forfeiting any chance at a much-needed win.

The fallout continued Sunday night, with judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox initially optimistic about the boys’ ensuite after seeing the promising changes they had made to their guest bathroom following their critiques in week one.

But upon walking into the space, Blaze squealed, “What the fudge is this?”

They were met with a completely unfinished space, which hadn’t even undergone any waterproofing, let alone aesthetic touches.

“You’re kidding me? What on earth has happened here?” Fox added.

Palmer guessed, correctly, there must have been “a dispute with the builder.”

“This is crushing. It feels like somebody walked off at a point where they couldn’t continue at all, and if that’s the case, I feel really sorry for the boys,” he continued.

“I feel sick for them,” Blaze added.

Shaynna was horrified.

The face says it all.

Fox went on to declare it was “the most unfinished room in Block history”, before a cutaway fact checked his statement. There were a couple of other doozies, including Dan and Carlene in 2016, Jason and Sarah in 2017, twins Josh and Luke in 2021 and last year’s controversial couple Kristy and Brett who delivered an unfinished bathroom.

However, despite the “diabolical” scenes, the judges noted the layout of the room was headed in the right direction.

“I can already see from a planning perspective, everything is in the right spot,” Fox said.

“What’s quite annoying is, if this was a Monday or a Tuesday, I would’ve felt quite excited for them.”

But the knockabout blokes took the criticism in their stride, with Ricky declaring they were looking forward to a “fresh start tomorrow.”

Ricky and Haydn were, at least, expecting the negative feedback.

It comes after awkward scenes on Wednesday’s episode where the duo were forced to fire their builder on camera, with Ricky taking Miller aside to deliver the blow.

“I don’t know how we recover from here. This has just been a nightmare. You’re a cracking dude, but the way the last week or two has panned out has been a f**king disaster,” he told him.

Labelling the situation a “f**king disgrace,” he also called out Miller for leaving the Phillip Island building site at times when unfolding crises needed his management. One such instance saw the builder head back to Melbourne to attend a concert.

Ricky said the biggest problem was a “lack of ownership that really needed to be taken. At a time when major building errors and decisions were made, it would’ve been really nice to hear some ownership.”

It’s one of the most unfinished rooms in Block history.

Haydn then joined the chat. He told Miller that his decision to leave site and attend a concert while waterproofing Wednesday was underway was “heartbreaking,” particularly for a contestant sacrificing time at home with his newborn baby.

With Miller dismissed, Ricky and Haydn were left without a builder. Ricky said he was embarrassed about how things had turned out – “Australia’s going to look at us like we’re idiots,” he told the cameras.

“To have our biggest fail in life on national TV on our favourite show … it’s hectic.”

The Block continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel 9.
