The Block presenters Scott Cam and Shelley Craft laid down the law during their traditional midweek contestant walkarounds, telling one team their recent actions were tantamount to cheating.
One episode earlier, contestants had fronted up to an art challenge in the hopes of winning prize money for their renos – all, that is, except for Grant, who stayed back at the house to work, as his wife Courtney sheepishly explained.
That prompted a swift dressing down from a visibly angry Scott Cam, who asked Courtney: “Who’s running this show?”
A day later, Cam and Craft came face-to-face with Grant back on site, and let him have it.
“That is not allowed to happen ever again. It’s your obligation to come to the challenge – number one, because I said so, and number two, because it’s unfair to the other teams,” Cam told him.
“You’re here working on your bedroom, [in the hopes of] winning $10,000, while they’ve left their bedroom back at the challenge. So, that is almost paramount to cheating.”
Grant disagreed, arguing that they wouldn’t be able to finish the room if he’d attended the challenge.
“But everyone else is in the same boat, Grant,” Craft reasoned.
“They had to leave site, and you were meant to leave site so it’s an even playing field. And if you win this week, how filthy are they going to be?”
Craft suggested a punishment for Grant – a few hours “time out” off-site, where he could accompany her shopping. Only then could they “move on.”
Then it was on to Kylie and Brad’s house, where Cam checked in on Kylie’s earlier threats to follow Jesse and Paige’s lead and quit the show.
There were extraordinary scenes in Tuesday’s episode after Kylie spat the dummy about Jesse and Paige’s replacements.
Cam phoned Kylie on camera and had to coax out an agreement from her not to leave the show.
“It was a really hard week, because Jesse and Paige were loved,” Cam told Kylie, now in-person.
“But you’ve got to take those things and move forward – not move forward to the airport … like you threatened to.”
