‘Two idiots’ crowned My Kitchen Rules 2024 winners in nailbiting finale

In a nail-bitingly close finale which came down to just a couple of points’ difference, the unlikely winners of this season have finally been named.

MKR 2024 winners unveiled

The winners of My Kitchen Rules 2024 have been crowned in a nailbiting finale.

Italian friends Simone and Viviana were the unlikely duo to take home $100,000 in prize money on Tuesday night, after scoring a 2-point victory over runners-up Caz and Fergus, having previously called themselves “two idiots”.

The visibly overwhelmed pair revealed that their experience on the show had “completely changed” their lives after the results were revealed.

“I’m so happy to have shared this with Viviana and all our friends. Amore, amore. We did this one for you,” a smiling Simone said, adding: “I just found out I’m going to become a dad. My beautiful partner Victoria is pregnant. It’s mind-blowing.”

“I walked into this challenge with a best friend and came out of it with a brother. I could not be happier,” Viviana said.

Meanwhile, Caz told the judges she knew the competition would be challenging.

“I’m incredibly proud of both of us. It was never going to be easy today,” Caz said.

Fergus then told his mother: “I wouldn’t have got here without you. No regrets.”

The finale saw judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge joined by special guest, inaugural MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin.

Both teams were tasked with creating four courses, including entree, seafood, meat and dessert – 100 plates in total.

Mother-and-son duo Caz and Fergus were given 25 points out of a possible 30 for their menu, which featured lemongrass prawns, Sichuan beef short ribs, and tamarind date cake.

They were narrowly defeated by Simone and Viviana, who scored 27 points for their lobster tacos, lamb rump with pecorino zabaione, and Paris-Brest with hazelnut praline cream – a culinary spread which Goodwin described as “a joy to eat”.

“I want you to know that you have done a brilliant job. You should all be very proud of what you have achieved,” Feildel told both teams.

The duo didn’t start off with a bang, previously telling New Ideathey struggled to execute under pressure. But they later rectified their initial stumbles by achieving the “highest instant restaurant score in the history of MKR.”“We never even think about the fact that Simone and Viviana, who are just, like, two idiots, could actually achieve something of this caliber,” Viviana told the magazine.

Plenty of fans were thrilled with the outcome, taking to social media to gush over Simone and Viviana’s winning effort.

“I only got into my kitchen rules this year bc my step mum watches it and the italian pair won me over so i wanted to see them win and THEY DID YES!!!” one viewer wrote.

“So deserved, they were the most skilled and the most likable.”

“I have loved Simone & Viviana from day 1 and I was waiting for this moment for them to win... their love for each other is so pure, and what this world needs more of. I am so happy for them,” said another.

“Amazing grand final on @mykitchenrules... I really fell in love with the italiano accents of Viv & Sim. Their technical dishes definitely got them the extra points,” one person pointed out.

Another fan wrote simply: “So happy they won!!!”

Prior to their win, Simone and Viviana revealed they were hoping to launch their own cooking show once MKR finished filming.

“That would be something we would consider because when we cook, if there is no pressure behind us, we can be very funny and we can play around and we can create very good dishes,” Simone said.

“So that would be something we would really consider, and hopefully we will be given the chance to do it.”

Viviana added: “I would love to do something that involves travelling, like Simone and I going around, trying different foods and learning from other cultures.

“We show our culture to them, and they show us theirs. I would love something like that.”
