A former Married At First Sight contestant has revealed behind-the-scenes secrets about how the TV weddings actually come together.
Samantha Moitzi, who was paired with Al Perkins on the 2022 season, revealed on Instagram she was given only $2500 for her entire wedding outfit: including dress, veil, shoes and jewellery.
The 27-year-old explained that she and her friend, Erin, went hunting for the perfect dress with just 10 days to spare before her TV nuptials.
“Erin and I had to go into bridal shops, and we were so unprepared by all the questions about my fiance,” Moitzi said.
“Trying not to laugh our heads off at the countless lies coming out of our mouths (we weren’t allowed to tell anyone).
“With only 10 days notice I had to buy off the rack, so it was so hard to find something that fit that was me,” she said.
“It also had to be approved by your producer so it matched your wedding (which I had no idea about).”
Moitzi finished up her story with a picture of the dress she ultimately chose.
“This was the final and approved dress,” she said.
“Was definitely not what I had in mind for my wedding day.”
Moitzi and Perkins’ wedding never translated into a post-show relationship, with the pair breaking up at the final commitment ceremony of the season.
She debuted her new partner on Instagram earlier this year, with a mysterious picture which largely obscured his face.
During a Q&A session on Instagram this week, she was asked by a follower how they met, and revealed they first crossed paths years ago.
“We met out three years ago and I saw him and was like, ‘He’s so hot’ … So I lingered like a bad smell till he took me home,” Moitzi said.
