Could comedian Celeste Barber be Julia Morris’ dream pick as co-host on next year’s 10th I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here?
The pair caught up at the TV Week Logies nomination breakfast in Sydney this week, with Morris revealing at the event, that while she couldn’t name who would be working alongside her next year – she does have a “total dream pick”.
Morris later shared a pic to Instagram of her with the Wellmania star – tagging I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here official account – and captioning the gorgeous picture with “Get voting and scroll through for a duo you never knew you needed. J x.”
Morris, who has been nominated for the Gold Logie for the second year in a row, posted her joy at catching up with her fellow funnywoman at the event.
And it was a mutual admiration society with Barber – who received her first Logie nomination for most popular actress, while her Netfix show will compete for most popular comedy series – also posting on her own Instagram that she “fell deeply in love with her comedy idol @ladyjuliamorris”.
But just who will replace Dr Chris Brown?
It is understood that Ten is currently chemistry testing various potential co-hosts with Morris, – who is midway through her nationwide 75 Years In The Business comedy tour.
And the rumour mill is going wild with suggestions as to who will step into the very big shoes left by the departing Brown who announced in February he would be heading to rival network Seven.
Funnyman Jimmy Rees is firming as one of the frontrunners. He apparently impressed network execs with his on-camera talents during taskmaster Australia.
Rees would certainly bring an already, built-in fan base thanks to his huge social media following from his previous turn as host of ABC’s Giggle and Hoot and his viral videos dissecting every aspect of Australians’ lives.
Morris has sung Rees’ praises after working with him on the debut season of the Aussie version of the beloved British show.
Or could we see host-with-the-most (Ten) shows Osher Gunsberg add another feather to his cap and head to the jungle. The Bachelor and Masked Singer Australia host is also nominated for a Gold Logie.
Comedian Joel Creasey, who was previously a contestant on I’m A Celebrity in 2015, is another name tipped to step into the hosting shoes.
TV presenter Darren McMullen has also been rumoured, given he worked with Network Ten on The Real Love Boat.
Comedian Dave Thornton and former Neighbours star Rob Mills, and The Project’s new weekday host Sam Taunton are other names in the mix.
While fans have also been speculating that Australian Idol host Scott Tweedie – who has previously worked for Ten hosting the music program The Loop and as a reporter on Studio 10 is another contender.
Former Project host Carrie Bickmore and her drivetime radio partner Tommy Little were early rumoured to front a completely refreshed I’m A Celeb, but that seems unlikely with Morris retaining her hosting role.
Morris has been open about how deeply sad she is about losing her “beloved doctor”.
Morris and Brown became firm friends since the reality series launched in 2015. She has said they’re big shoes to fill and she has a few requirements.
‘’Number one: someone who isn’t a douche bag,” Morris said.
“Two: someone who’s really funny and an equal contributor of jokes, but not pushy.
“There’s a wonderful ebb and flow between us that’s taken years to build. At times, I’ve been a maniac on menopause and Chris has had to take a breath as we move through it.
“You can’t simply move on to the next person.”
