HE’S been the undisputed star of this year’s ‘renovated’ House Rules reality series on Seven with his naughty streak — as much as his design talents — proving a winner with viewers.
And that saucy side was on full show when Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen allowed Seven’s Sunday Night into his lavish UK home.
The cheeky 52-year-old introduces host Melissa Doyle to his wife of 28 years, Jackie, their two daughters and first grandson, Albion — the new apple of the family’s eye.
While Bowen has been quick to dish out the criticism to contestants on the top-rating DIY program, his wife quickly sets the score when it comes to how his TV persona would wash in their Cotswolds manor, telling Doyle: “if he’d commented on the meals that I have cooked the way he comments on people’s houses, he’d have been shown the door.”
It’s a softer side to the professional stirrer, who has electrified House Rules and put the cat among the pigeons with his fellow judges.
Bowen clearly likes it that way, joking to News Corp Australia: “I was teasing Wendy [Moore, co-star and magazine director] and saying she’s surrounded by Drew, who’s a bit of a Peter Pan and I’m Captain Hook. She is literally Wendy Darling, caught between two naughty lost boys.”
