Casting drama erupts ahead of Real Housewives of Sydney return

Production isn’t even underway yet and there’s already friction behind the scenes on the controversial Sydney-based reality series.

Filming hasn’t even begun, but drama is already engulfing the highly-anticipated second season of The Real Housewives of Sydney.

The dramatic Foxtel reality series is set to return six years after its debut season, but with only two of the original seven cast members.

Krissy Marsh and Nicole Gazal O’Neil have signed on again, while Lisa Oldfield, Victoria Reese, Melissa Tkautz, Matty Samei and Athena X Levendi will not be returning.

With casting now underway among Sydney’s socialite set, Sydney Confidential reports that a stand-off has developed between former model Marsh and one of the frontrunners to join the cast.

According to the publication, glamorous Double Bay beauty shop owner Linda Rogan is a favourite among producers, but Marsh has given them an ultimatum and declared she’ll walk if the mum-of-three is chosen.

Rogan already has quite a following online, boasting nearly 17,000 followers on Instagram.

It’s previously been reported that former WAG Terry Biviano, ex-TV presenter Sally Obermeder, media commentator Melissa Hoyer and socialites Vanessa Jacobs Fennell and Eleni Taylor.

According to Sydney Confidential, the list has now been whittled down to 12 potential candidates to fill the five available vacancies.

The Real Housewives of Sydney first aired in 2017 but was cancelled after just one season in early 2019, having been deemed by TV bosses as “too extreme” to air in the US.

At the time, Foxtel’s head of television, Brian Walsh, admitted it had been too “nasty”.

“A lot of the women in this show were nasty for nasty’s sake and had no redeeming features,” he said.
