‘Atrocious’: Lady Gaga’s Olympic-sized ‘flop’

Lady Gaga has broken her silence after her performance at the Paris Olympics appeared to be marred by issues.

Lady Gaga feels 'grateful' to have been asked to perform at the Olympics opening ceremony

Lady Gaga has broken her silence after fans were left fuming over a major tech blunder during her highly anticipated Paris Olympics opening performance.

The global superstar appeared to be experiencing sound issues which viewers felt affected her elaborate performance on the banks of the River Seine.

The singer took to a specially built stage on the iconic landmark, performing with gusto with a French cabaret act. Gaga, 38, performed the track “Mon Truc en Plume”, a circus song that is well known in France, for the country’s kick-off of the games.

After moving around the golden staircase and stage, the performer – real name Stefani Germanotta – took to her famous piano.

But many watching at home were disappointed that they couldn’t hear the vocal powerhouse properly, slamming the broadcast’s audio.

Taking to X, one lashed out saying: “Great performance from Lady Gaga. Shame the French forgot to do a sound check beforehand”.

A second agreed, writing: “Lady Gaga performing to no large audience in a stadium but on a platform next to the river. The sound is awful, sound just getting lost in the vast open space rather than being reverberated around a stadium.”

A third fumed: “This is rather underwhelming. Dull boats, dull background and the sound quality of Lady Gaga’s act wasn’t great.”

Others labelled it the star’s “worst ever” performance, with some slamming the star’s attempt to sing in French as “French-adjacent”.

Following her performance, Gaga took to social media where she seemingly shrugged off the issues that had plagued her show.

“I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organising committee to sing such a special French song – a song to honour the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre.

She added: “We rented pompoms from Le Lido archive – a real French cabaret theatre. We collaborated with Dior to create custom costumes, using naturally molted feathers. I studied French choreography that put a modern twist on a French classic. I rehearsed tirelessly to study a joyful French dance, brushing up on some old skills.

“I bet you didn’t know I used to dance at a 60s French party on the lower east side when I was first starting out! I hope you love this performance as much as I do.”

The superstar concluded her post by congratulating the athletes about to take part in the games as she declared them “open”.
