Olivia Wilde “blames rumours she’s engaged to Harry Styles” for getting served legal papers onstage at CinemaCon, claim insiders.
According to The Sun, the A-lister looked shocked and confused when she was handed a brown envelope - reportedly custody papers from ex-partner Jason Sudekis - while talking about new movie Don’t Worry Darling onstage in Las Vegas.
Wilde was left “humilated” after being served the custody papers in front of hudreds of fans, as she delivered a presentation on stage.
“Olivia was furious - she wants the focus to be on the film she’s worked so hard on, not on her personal life,” claims an insider.
“She has no idea why it happened, but she suspects it could have something to do with the rumours she’s engaged to Harry.”
Wilde’s ex-fiance, Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, with whome she has two children, has been slammed for the public spectacle.
Wilde was served with the legal documents while she was onstage in front of 4000 people giving a presentation about the movie that sparked her romance with superstar boyfriend Harry Styles.
But sources close to the actor say he reportedly had “no idea” the papers were being served to Wilde then and has been left “appalled” by the fallout.
The stunning incident sent shockwaves through Hollywood when images emerged of Wilde being presented with a “personal and confidential” manila envelope while she was in the middle of a speech about her new film Don’t Worry Darling at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
She was handed the envelope by a woman who slid it on stage in the middle of the presentation. “This is for me?” a stunned Wilde asked.
After opening the documents, Wilde carried on without missing a beat — and showed the trailer of the film she directed, starring her boyfriend Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, which was met with huge applause from the crowd.
Now, social media has turned on “nice guy” Suidekis accusing the star of purposefully trying to embarrass his ex-fiancee, with whom he shares two children – eight-year-old son Otis and five-year-old daughter Daisy.
So, #TedLasso is an AssHo?

FYIâ¦.I had an ex served papers before and there is absolutely NO WAY @jasonsudeikis didnât know where and when @oliviawilde would be servedâ¦NO WAY! The when and where is something that is discussed before the papers are delivered!

Gotta tip my hat to Jason Sudeikis. I would have done the same thing if I had a wife/ex-wife who cheated like that. People want only certain things to be Public. I think everything should be fair game once you put yourself out there.

I have to say that I call BS on him not knowing as you have control over how your ex is served. This feels intensional and really just mean.

The New York Post reported that Sudeikis had “no prior knowledge” of the plans — and would “never condone” Wilde being served in such an “inappropriate manner”.
Sources close to the actor say he has been left appalled and upset over the incident.
The papers in question were reportedly around custody of the former couple’s two children.
Still, Twitter has erupted with speculation about the sensational moment, with some seizing the opportunity to compare Sudeikis with his beloved TV character Ted Lasso, whom many noted would never have condoned such “savage” behaviour.
“So Ted Lasso is an A**Ho?” one person wrote on Twitter, while another chimed in: “D**k move Ted Lasso.”
“There’s no way Ted Lasso did that,” another tweeter added, as another insisted: “Ted Lasso would never.”
Some social media users accused the actor of wanting to ensure that his ex was served with the papers in public, suggesting that it was his way of getting back at her after she went public with her romance with Styles just a few months after her split from Sudeikis was made public.
“I had an ex served with papers before and there is absolutely NO WAY Jason Sudeikis didn’t know where and when Olivia Wilde would be served … NO WAY! The when and where is something that is discussed before the papers are delivered,” one Twitter user wrote.
Wilde appeared stunned to be served custody papers by Sudeikis while onstage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday night (local time).
Suidekis’ lawyers hired a process server to hand crucial documents over to Wilde concerning the former couple’s two young children.
But Wilde was left shocked when the server tracked her down to Caesars Palace’s in Las Vegas Tuesday night, where she was promoting her new movie, Don’t Worry Darling.
Wilde, 38, and Sudekis, 46, split in November 2020 after seven years together. They were engaged and co-parent son Otis, 8 and 5-year-old daughter Daisy.
A source reportedly told the New York Post that, “Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms Wilde and Mr Sudeikis.
“Mr Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”
They’re currently working out the terms of their custody agreement.
The children are with Sudeikis as he films the new season of the hit TV series, Ted Lasso.
Sudeikis has been honest about the painful split from Wilde, telling GQ that he had “reached rock bottom” after the break-up. However, he thanked her at the Critics Choice Awards in March 2021, crediting her for having the idea to turn “Ted Lasso” into a show. Wilde, in return, tweeted her congratulations to her ex and his team.
Deadline reported that the incident had sparked security fears.
In order to get into the Colosseum for CinemaCon, non-industry attendees need to purchase a badge.
The site alleged that those running the show were unaware how the server got in the building, or who they were, as CinemaCon producers just kept the Warner presentation going.
Reps for Wilde and Sudeikis did not immediately return our requests for comment.
