Imagine getting paid to take a dive deep into the world of Taylor Swift, charting the singer’s every move, twist, and turn during her globetrotting musical adventures.

Anew job advertisement seeking just that might just be music to Swift fans’ ears.

Gannett, a US newspaper publisher, has announced its search for the “ultimate Swiftie” to fill the role of a “Taylor Swift reporter”.

Both USA Today and The Tennessean, Gannett’s entities, are on the hunt for someone to fill this unique position. The advertised role will require the journalist to be “experienced, video-forward”, with a knack for capturing the musical and cultural essence of Taylor Swift.

According to the job posting on Gannett Careers’ Dayforce site, “Swift’s fanbase has grown to unprecedented heights, and so has the significance of her music and growing legacy.”

The successful applicant will be required to produce consistent content on Swift across multiple platforms, catering to an audience with an insatiable appetite for all things related to the pop sensation.

Senior Director of Innovation and Experimentation at USA Today Bill Cannon said the role creation comes following an unprecedented demand from readers for more Taylor Swift content.

“We listen to our readers and they can’t get enough of Taylor Swift. So, yes, we really are looking for a Taylor Swift reporter,” he posted to Twitter.

But the role isn’t all glitz and glamour.

The reporter will need to differentiate between facts and fan fervour, identifying the continuous expansion of Swift’s influence, deciphering her fanbase’s stance in pop culture, and assessing her ripple effects in the music and business arenas.

And yes, globetrotting is part of the job description, as covering significant moments from Swift’s international tours is a must according to the advert.

This unique job offering swiftly circulated on Twitter, with reactions ranging from awe to amusement, with one Taylor Swift fan posting “this is my dream job”.

The position does come without its sceptics, prominent music critic Carl Wilson voiced his concern over the role creation, querying “Has anyone ever heard of a single-artist reporter job before?”

Nevertheless, for the Swiftie community, the opportunity of a lifetime beckons.

So, if you’ve been dreaming of blending a love for journalism with your adoration for Taylor Swift, and you’re willing to relocate to the US, this might just be your chance.
