There were sweltering conditions across the country over the Australia Day long weekend – and just like the rest of us, celebs flocked to the beach to cool off.

Visiting international pop star Rita Ora was spotted with her husband, Kiwi actor / director Taika Waititi, soaking up the sun, surf and sand on the Gold Coast.

Rita Ora showed off her impressive gym-honed physique in a yellow polka-dot bikini – the second time she’s been spotted out and about in a bikini in recent days.

While Ora is clearly savouring some time off down under, the star took to her Instagram stories Wednesday after a morning gym session to tease a day at work.

“I’m so excited to go to work,” she said, stopping short of revealing what she was up to.

In Sydney, radio queen Jackie “O” Henderson was spotted doing a few laps at the ocean pool at her local beach in Clovelly.

Construction recently started on her planned mansion in nearby Gordons Bay. In March 2023, Jackie O snapped up a six-bedroom home overlooking the popular swimming spot for $13.25m – $1.25m over the reserve.

While it went for an eye-watering price, the property is an older 1960s brick building, and Jackie O later lodged plans to build a brand new home on the site at an estimated cost of more than $5m.

Also in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, former Bachelor host Osher Günsberg was spotted cooling off at Bronte beach.

Longtime reality TV host Gunsberg, 50, recently worked on a more personal project: the SBS documentary Osher Günsberg: A World Of Pain. In the doco, he met people affected by chronic pain and also opened up about his own experiences with ongoing pain since being diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his 30s.

Elsewhere in Sydney, comedian, TV and radio host Hamish Blake was spotted hitting the beach with his children Rudy and Sonny in tow:

And while many Australians headed back to work today after the three-day weekend, the scorching hot weather is only heating up.

Australia has recorded the hottest temperatures on Earth in the past 24 hours, with millions of people again bracing for temperatures to soar past 40C.

The world’s hottest maximum temperature in the past 24 hours of 47.2C was recorded at Marree Aero in South Australia, according to data from El Dorado Weather.

Tuesday is expected to bring a dose of the blistering heat to Sydney, with temperatures expected to hit 42C in Penrith and Richmond on Tuesday, closely followed by 41C in Parramatta, Campbelltown and Liverpool.

Sydney’s CBD is on track to reach a high of 40C today, with the chance of rain and a thunderstorm.
