It will take more than sheeting rain to keep revellers away from Saturday’s highly anticipated Sound of Rock Festival in Hervey Bay.
Three hours ahead of when the first acts were scheduled to grace the stage, patrons were already arriving at the gates, albeit fitted out with wet weather gear and umbrellas.
Also in good spirits was first time performers at the festival, metal group Ruination, whose guitarist and vocalist Luke Karolak quipped: “As long as we don’t get electrocuted it’s all good.”
“I don’t have any leave left from work.”
Mr Karolak said they were fortunate to be put on the bill playing alongside Aussie music royalty.
“It’s our biggest gig to date, names and stuff like that, and the biggest stage we’ve played to date,” the Maryborough musician said.
“I’d like to meet Daryl Braithwaite to get an autograph from my mum for him.”
The three-piece hard rock band Ruination - an amalgamation of rock, metal and punk - will kick off at 1pm alongside the Marshall Brothers.
Following are the Radiators, Bachelor Girl, Chocolate Starfish, Killing Heidi, Kate Ceberano, Daryl Braithwaite and Leo Sayer closing off the night.
Tickets for the event at Seafront Oval are still available online via oztix.com.au with gates opening at 12.30pm.
