After making an impression – good or bad – on the red carpet for two decades, Sophie Monk is making her love for the Logies official.
The Gold Coast golden girl will on Sunday be announced as the face of the 2022 TV Week Logies, which will return to the Gold Coast on June 19 after a two-year pandemic hiatus.
Monk will attend a breakfast event at the Burleigh Pavilion on Sunday where nominations for this year’s awards will be announced.
“I love the Logies. I love getting dressed up and celebrating local stuff. It is such a fun night, I love looking at the fashion and I get to get dressed up but someone does it for me so I look respectable,” Monk said.
“I think it’s going to be the best one yet because we haven’t done it for a while. Not to sound like a nerd burger but (it’s important) just to acknowledge people in the industry.”
Monk said she was opting for a “classic and comfy” look for 2022 rather than following a fashion trend, saying her gold gown in 2019 was her favourite red carpet moment.
“I’ve got a billion of ‘why did I wear that’,” she said.
“Sometimes it’s my hair, I was like why did I try that, why I did I tease it. Some dresses weigh 5kg and you can’t enjoy the night.”
Monk, who is newly married, has just filmed another season as host of Beauty in the Geek and will soon film Love Island in Spain while also preparing to launch her own line of Ugg boots.
“I have tried everything. I wouldn’t say I’m known for one thing and I love that,” she said.
“I feel very lucky to have such good fun jobs because you never know in this industry. I’m pretty f---ing lucky.”
Live Voting opens on Sunday and will close just before 7:30pm when the ceremony takes place on Sunday, June 19.
It will this year shift from The Star to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre within The Star Gold Coast Entertainment Resort precinct.
