Queensland sprint sensation Gout Gout has been named on the 2025 Forbes Australia 30 Under 30 list, emerging as the only Queenslander to feature on the prestigious national rollcall of rising leaders.

The Ipswich-based teenager, 17, caps off a breakout season that has transformed him into one of the country’s most exciting athletics prospects.

Gout was recognised in the sports category, with his inclusion highlighting his explosive national debut season, record-threatening junior performances and the growing international hype around his potential Olympic trajectory.

He has already broken multiple junior records and drawn interest from major athletics programs at home and overseas.

But the accolade did come with one awkward footnote: Forbes mistakenly listed Gout as 16 instead of 17 in his official bio, an error quickly spotted by athletics fans online.

Forbes Australia’s annual 30 Under 30 list highlights young changemakers reshaping the nation across sport, entertainment, technology, social impact and business.

This year’s cohort features some of Australia’s most recognisable rising stars, including NBA guard Josh Giddey, surfing champion Molly Picklum, golfing great Minjee Lee, AFL standout Nick Daicos, and global screen talents Milly Alcock and Dacre Montgomery.

Forbes Australia editor-in-chief Sarah O’Carroll said the list reflected the “extraordinary pace” at which young Australians were influencing the world.

“This cohort reflects ambition, global perspective and an unrelenting drive to make an impact,” she said.
