Beatlemania hit a brief snag on Wednesday night as fans, eager and ready, were left twiddling their thumbs and shuffling in lines even after legendary musician Paul McCartney was due to hit the stage.

The crowd, buzzing with anticipation, found themselves caught in a human traffic jam, with hundreds bottlenecked in the race to claim their spot at Suncorp Stadium.

It seemed the venue’s extra layer of security, with secondary ticket checks, threw a spanner in the works, leaving fans restless and the field dotted with empty seats as the clock ticked down.

“It will be about ten o’clock by the time we get down there, the show will be over,” one fan said.

“It just seems very disorganised, there’s people everywhere,” another commented while waiting in line.

Fan frenzy as Paul McCartney arrives at Brisbane venue

However as often happens with Suncorp Stadium gigs, most if not all fans were miraculously in the house by the time the first chord rang out.

Earlier in the evening there were more than 50 McCartney megafans waiting outside Suncorp Stadium for over an hour, with posters in hand just to get a glimpse of the music icon.

After McCartney’s brief drive-by, many fans were seen overcome by emotion, crying and hugging each other after seeing their idol in person for the very first time.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GET TO AND FROM PAUL MCCARTNEY CONCERT

As the city buzzes with excitement for Sir Paul McCartney’s performance at Suncorp Stadium tonight, concertgoers are being provided with comprehensive transport options to ensure a smooth experience.

Authorities have ramped up public transport services, with TransLink announcing added train services and shuttle buses to manage the influx of fans.

Fans flocking to the former Beatle’s show – which is close to selling out – will be privy to free public transport privileges.

Concert tickets double as free passes for council buses and Queensland Rail trains from midday until the last service.

However, it’s worth noting that the Brisbane City Council ferries, the G: and Airtrain services, are not included in this offer.

The gates of Suncorp Stadium will open at 5pm, a precursor to the musical extravaganza set to commence at 7pm.

To manage the crowd and ensure safety, road closures will begin at 4pm and will extend up to 1.5 hours post the concert’s conclusion. Only local businesses, coaches, emergency, and authorised vehicles will be granted access during this period.

Milton Rd closures will be in place for this event from approximately 20 minutes before the end of the concert for up to an hour after.

Ride sharing services are not permitted under the venue’s traffic and transport management plans.

Parking restrictions will also be in place in the local Lang Park Traffic Area surrounding the Stadium, with attendees encouraged to “ditch the car” and use the free public transport services to avoid parking fines.

TransLink has arranged for a number of additional train services for all lines post-show for audience members to be able to get home safely.

Concert attendees planning their return journey post-show via the Ipswich and Springfield train lines should be wary of late-night track closures from 9.30pm until the last service. Railbuses are scheduled to bridge the gap between Sherwood, Redbank, and Springfield Central.

Additionally, shuttle buses to the venue will be available from 4.30pm onwards.

These buses will operate from several locations, including Brisbane City, Carindale, Chermside, Eight Mile Plains/Mt Gravatt, and The Gap.

Post-concert, shuttle services will continue from the venue. Attendees can access these shuttles from designated zones, including Maroon, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Given Terrace shuttle stop.

To avoid any post-concert hiccups, fans are urged to plan their journeys ahead and check the TransLink website.
