Celebrating two decades of their chart-topping fifth album, Vulture Street, iconic Brisbane band Powderfinger is staging a reunion this July.

The beloved rock group will host an exclusive Q&A session at the Palace Barracks Cinemas in Brisbane on Thursday, August 24, with acclaimed author and journalist Trent Dalton, steering the event’s conversation.

Released in July 2003, ‘Vulture Street’ swiftly became a milestone in the Aussie music scene, securing the band the 2003 ARIA Music Award for Best Rock Album.

In addition to the Q&A session, attendees of the reunion event will be treated to the screening of ‘These Days (Live in Concert)’, a concert film produced during the ‘Live on Vulture Street Tour’ in 2004.

The film, which has been out of print for some time, is set to provide an immersive cinema experience for the fans.

Adding to the excitement, the band members will participate in a meet-and-greet session, giving their fans a chance for photos and interactions. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, July 18, at 12 pm.

With tickets extremely limited, fans are urged to sign up for access via the band’s official website.

The reunion comes after Powderfinger played their final show at the River Stage in Brisbane on November 13, 2010.

However some members of the band, which formed in 1989, last rocked out in a more unconventional setting, with guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug performing an intimate concert for rail project workers constructing the Cross River Rail - below ground.

Mr Middleton and Mr Haug performed some of their band’s greatest hits before a small group of Cross River Rail workers in the 290-metre-long cavern, around 34 metres below the CBD.
