Among the legion of adoring Paul McCartney devotees in Brisbane on Wednesday night were two who truly deserve the title of “superfan”.

Christopher Senti, a 41-year-old avid McCartney enthusiast from Leeton, NSW, has been traversing the country with a singular mission – to have the Beatle legend autograph his meticulously crafted fan art poster.

“I’ve been to Adelaide, I’ve been to Melbourne, Newcastle, and two shows in Sydney, and we’ve got Brisbane tonight and in a couple of days which should be awesome,” he said.

“This sign took me three days to make. I wanted to make it really unique for him to see it, but at the end of the day, I want him to sign it,” he shared a passionately.

His journey hasn’t been without sacrifices, as he revealed the great lengths he’s taken to secure concerts and airfares.

“To fundraise for this tour, I was selling stuff on Facebook, I had to defer my mortgage for three weeks, had to mow lawns in between trips, just anything to make ends meet,” he revealed.

With previous attempts in Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, and Sydney proving fruitless, Senti remains hopeful with just the Gold Coast and Brisbane gigs left.

“We’ve only got the Gold Coast and the Brisbane show tonight to get it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Belinda ‘Bindi’ Dobson from Coffs Harbour recounted her unforgettable encounter with the star during a VIP soundcheck in Newcastle, earlier in the tour.

Winning a Frontier Touring competition last year paved the way for her, her son Lennon, best friend Katie, and her son McCartney to experience McCartney magic up close.

“We had made signs that said ‘Little Lennon and McCartney are ready to rock’, and he called us up on stage with him,” Ms Dobson said.

“We met him and we spoke to him and then he goes ‘why don’t we do a little dance together’,

“Lennon and I, we’re still on cloud ‘number nine’, it’s just an absolute dream come true.”

In addition to personal stories of devotion, Brisbanites eagerly anticipated McCartney’s setlist, given his unexpected swap from ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ to ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ during the Sydney leg.

The night was not without its element of nostalgia.

Delivering more than his timeless tracks, McCartney unveiled an emotive virtual duet of ‘I’ve Got a Feeling’, pairing his vocals with the late John Lennon through advanced artificial intelligence technology, a treat that left Brisbane fans mesmerised.

As McCartney’s ‘Get Back’ tour comes to a close, with only one show left to go, it’s clear that the legend’s music not only stands the test of time but also kindles the flames of passion in fans, both old and new.
