Oprah Winfrey turns heads during casual stroll at Brisbane’s South Bank
US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey has caused a stir in Brisbane during a casual walk around South Bank before a sold-out show in the city.
US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey has Brisbane buzzing as she hits the River City on her first visit to Australia in 15 years.
Winfrey took a casual stroll through South Bank dressed down in athleisure wear and an Akubra.
But she still turned heads from fans as she returned to The Emporium hotel to get ready for her show at the Brisbane Convention Centre tonight.
“So far so great,” she told The Courier-Mail when asked about her Brisbane visit, before asking for tips on great Queensland food.
One fan managed to say hello.
“I said (to Oprah) that I grew up watching my mum watching Oprah and we are both coming to the show tonight. She said ‘what’s your mum’s name’ and I said ‘Susan’ and she shook my hand,” the woman said.
Some of the younger crowd weren’t entirely sure who they were seeing.
“I don’t know who this is, but I kinda just want to see a famous person,” said Luka, a high-schooler on holidays.
It follows the megastar crashing an 80th birthday party soon after her arrival in Brisbane on Sunday.
Oprah will appear at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in a sold-out show on Monday night, before heading to Melbourne for a show on Thursday.
