On-air breakdown stuns B105 breakfast listeners

What began as a lighthearted segment ended in tears, as two B105 radio stars broke down live on air in an unexpectedly raw moment.

Two of Brisbane’s most recognisable radio voices were brought to tears live on air Friday morning in an emotional moment that left listeners equally moved.

B105 breakfast hosts Stav Davidson and Abby Coleman both broke down during a heartfelt exchange about fatherhood, prompted by the upcoming Gracie Abrams concert at Brisbane Entertainment Centre next Tuesday, which Davidson and fellow co-host Matty Acton are attending with their daughters.

The moment unfolded live on air when Coleman was overcome with emotion while praising her male co-hosts for the kind of dads they are.

“I was driving to work today, and it just occurred to me that you guys are really beautiful dads,” she began tearfully.

“You’re taking your daughters to Gracie on Tuesday … it’s a long way out to the entertainment centre, but you’re doing it for your daughters. And I just think that’s really beautiful.”

Davidson’s 12-year-old daughter Lorelei and Acton’s 8-year-old daughter Eden will be joining their dads at the show, which led Coleman to reflect on the impact of strong father figures.

“I even thought further … you guys don’t have your dads around, and they’d be so proud of the people you’ve become,” she said, choking up.

Both Davidson and Acton were clearly overwhelmed, with Davidson wiping away his tears and Acton adding: “We’re joking because we’re being awkward about it, but that is actually really sweet.”

Coleman closed the segment by saying: “I really do mean that. You guys are just extraordinary dads. Daughters really need strong males in their life that are willing to take them to a concert.”

Listeners flooded the station’s socials with messages of support, calling the moment “raw,” “real,” and “the reason we love this show.”

“This made me cry. Abbie you are the sweetest,” one fan wrote. ️
