Friday night at Splendour in the Grass 2023 was unexpectedly heartwarming, courtesy of Ocean Alley’s frontman Baden Donegal and his tiny, special guest.
Donegal lit up the Amphitheatre stage by bringing out his seven-month-old daughter, Foxy, as his co-star during the band’s hit track, ‘Confidence’.
The normally rowdy crowd at the iconic festival softened as the Aussie surf rockers took to the stage with the cutest addition in their line-up. Young Foxy, sporting a pink knitted beanie and noise-cancelling ear muffs, won over the audience with her unphased attitude as her rock star dad sung the lyrics to thousands of attendees.
The adorable moment was shared on Triple J’s Instagram account, becoming an instant viral sensation with 25,000 likes garnered in under three hours.
Fans of the band and festival-goers alike shared their excitement and affection for the tiny showstopper, with comments ranging from playful envy to supportive admiration.
“I wish I was that baby,” one fan commented.
“Working dad goals,” another wrote.
Ocean Alley, known for their rock and reggae fusion, were a last-minute addition to the Splendour in the Grass line-up.
The surprise announcement came on June 29 after original headliners Lewis Capaldi and Rainbow Kitten Surprise confirmed their withdrawal from the festival.
Despite their last-minute inclusion, the surf rockers from New South Wales’ Northern Beaches proved they are no less than main-stage material with their hit tunes, and young Foxy’s debut performance.
