Despite the gloomy weather, the stars are guaranteed to out at Suncorp Stadium this weekend as the NRL grand final pre-show entertainment is set to impress.
Queensland local singer-songwriter and Eurovision finalist Kate Miller-Heidke, Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss and internationally acclaimed didgeridoo player and composer William Barton will headline the spectacular night alongside a 40-piece Orchestra.
The artists will also be joined by DJs The Stafford Brothers and multi-Platinum DJ Timmy Trumpet.
Despite the threat of lockdown looming over parts of the state before the big day, Miller-Heidke said she couldn't be more grateful to be in Brisbane during the pandemic.
“Brisbane, without exaggeration, is the arts capital of Australia right now,” she said.
“I can actually work. It’s been so surreal to get back to the stage.”
Despite her illustrious past, the homegrown star said she still feels the nerves, and even more so for the grand final as she’s been entrusted with singing the national anthem.
“I’m very excited and pretty nervous as well. Live television is nerve-racking … But it’s good, it’s just an open invitation for everyone to sing along.”
Meanwhile, for composer Barton, Sunday’s game will be all about bringing fans together over what has been a divisive season.
“We’re here as one nation even though there’s two sides. As musicians it’s a great opportunity for us to connect on that national level,” he said.
Penrith Panthers and South NRL Grand Final will be held at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, October 3.
