HOMEGROWN pop sensation Troye Sivan has announced his first Australian tour.

Sivan, 20, will play a string of all ages shows across the country in August.

The dates are Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on August 3, UC Refectory in Canberra August 4, Brisbane Riverstage August 6, Wollongong’s University Great Hall on August 7, Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on August 9, Adelaide’s AEC Theatre on August 11 and a hometown show at Perth’s HBF Stadium on August 13.

Tickets go on sale at 4pm on April 18, with a pre-sale starting at 2pm on April 14.

The Perth-based Sivan launched his career on YouTube (his channel scoring over 240 million views) before scoring an international record deal with EMI.

Last year’s Wild EP hit No. 1 in Australia and Top 5 in the US and UK, while his debut album Blue Neighbourhood debuted in the US Top 10.

The single Youth is No. 34 in the US chart this week while Australian radio is now playing his new single Talk Me Down.

After touring the US through February and March Sivan will spend April and May on the road in Europe and the UK before returning home.

Sivan’s guest on the Australian tours will be Nicole Millar.

Interestingly Sivan will be the first openly gay artist to play at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena — the venue named after the openly homophobic tennis star.

Sam Smith was due to play the venue last year, but upgraded to Rod Laver Arena.

Last week Sivan won the Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards, celebrating his honesty about his sexuality in his interviews and music videos.

“A lot of what I do is I wonder what I would have wanted when I was younger,” Sivan told News Corp last year. “Being a kid who wanted to be a singer and knowing in the back of my mind I was gay I think having someone like Sam Smith would have been so nice for me to see that. OK it’s cool, I can still make music and be a singer, I don’t have to be in the closet. It would have been really comforting for me. So I’m trying to be that person for someone else.”

The GLAAD awards also saw Sivan meet Taylor Swift, after the pair praised each other on Twitter.
