SOAK returns to Australia for Falls Festival hoping to be mates with Courtney Barnett

BRIDIE Monds-Watson — otherwise known as SOAK — isn’t out of her teens yet. But the Irish artist is a already a seasoned campaigner with a story to tell.

SHE is just 19 and without favouritism, a rising star in the music scene.

Bridie Monds-Watson, who is known by her musician name SOAK, is from Derry in Northern Ireland.

Her debut studio album Before We Forgot How to Dream was released in May. It has been nominated for a prestigious Mercury Prize and SOAK is the Irish nominee for the 2016 European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA), the European music awards for emerging artists.

This time with a three-piece band, the singer songwriter is making her second tour of the country next year.

SOAK is also playing the Southbound Festival in Busselton, Western Australia, on Sunday, January 10.
