AUSTRALIANS will finally get a chance to see Selena Gomez live this August.
Three years ago Gomez abruptly cancelled her first tour Down Under for some “me time.”
”It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” Gomez said when she cancelled shows due to take place in February 2014.
Gomez later admitted the cancellation was due to a stint in rehab in Arizona, not for substance abuse, but for emotional growth after an on/off relationship with Justin Bieber and after being diagnosed with lupus.
Gomez will now play three East Coast shows, Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on August 6, Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on August 9 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on August 11.
The Melbourne and Sydney shows will feature Joe Jonas’ band DNCE.
Tickets go on sale next Wednesday at 10am.
Cashed up Gomez fans can also meet the star with a $499 VIP package.
The package includes a photo with Gomez, pre-signed photo card and a pair of Selena Gomez sunglasses among other merchandise.
Regular tickets to the show are priced at around $99.90 — $119.90 plus fees.
Gomez’ latest album Revival went Top 10 in Australia and spawned the hits Good to You and Hands to Myself.
After her 2014 rehab stint, Gomez told fans she had learnt a lot about herself. “I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought others would accept me for it. And I realised I don’t know how to be anything but myself.”
The singer has been to Australia before, with ex Bieber but has never performed here.
