Sabrina Carpenter has lashed out on social media after a troll spread a rumour about her.
The 25-year-old clapped back at social media critics who accused her of lip-synching on her sellout Short n’ Sweet Tour.
After one user commented on TikTok asking if she “ever” sings live at her concerts, someone posted a clip taken from one of Carpenter’s recent performances and claimed that it proved she was lip-synching.
In the video posted Tuesday, the artist is seen dancing onstage to her hit single Please Please Please.
“Hate to say it,” the person wrote, “30% lip singing [sic] 30% backing track 40% singing.”
The video has since received millions of viewers, with many in the comments seemingly agreeing with the troll.
After seeing the clip going viral, Carpenter, who recently teased a secret celebrity love triangle, rushed to comment, hitting back at the claims questioning her talent - even sharing her willingness to prove otherwise.
“I sing live at every show 100%,” declared the Espresso singer. “Would you like to speak to my audio engineers?”
The original poster responded to Carpenter’s remarks, saying they would like to meet with the engineers. As for what the person would like to tell the crew if she could?
“I would,” they wrote back to the superstar, “and tell them to lower the backtrack voice as its [sic] way too high.”
Meanwhile, Carpenter has so much to celebrate, with a number-one album and her first VMA win.
She was full of thanks when she accepted the award last month.
She called the award “really special” before revealing how much she appreciated her fans who supported her.
“The first people I want to thank are the fans. I just want to say you guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other,” she said.
The 25-year-old added that even though it sounded “cheesy” she believes she has the best fans in the world.
“Thank you to my managers. Thank you to my family, my cats and dogs that are at home.”
