If you can’t get yourself to the North Byron Parklands in July to watch global sensation Lizzo headline the 2023 Splendour in the Grass music festival, then you’re in luck.
Today, it was announced that the Good As Hell singer will perform three big arena shows while here in Australia – at the RAC Arena in Perth, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
“Aussies ... I’m coming to Australia and New Zealand,” the 34-year-old sings in perfect pitch in an Instagram Stories video shared this morning.
“That’s right, the special tour is coming to Australia and New Zealand and I’m so f***ing excited. I missed you guys so much. I can’t wait to see all of you again.”
Although the trip will be the Grammy winner’s second visit Down Under, it will be her first time taking to the stage at Splendour in the Grass, from July 21 to July 23. The last time she was here in 2020, she played sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House and Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
Hardly surprising for an artist who cemented her superstar status last year with the release of her fourth studio album, Special, which topped the US Billboard 200 charts and reached number two on the ARIA Albums Chart here.
The album featured her hit song About Damn Time, the title track which won the coveted title of Record of The Year.
Lizzo concertgoers will also be treated to the sounds of Zimbabwean-born Australian rapper Tkay Maidza, who will open up all shows on the tour.
“Guess what? Just found out I’m touring Australia with Lizzo,” the 27-year-old singer excitedly announced in a TikTok video today.
Tickets to Lizzo’s The Special Tour are on sale from Wednesday, March 29.
Friday, July 14 – RAC Arena, Perth
