Pop queen Kylie Minogue is keeping the chart fires sizzling with Tension enjoying a higher debut on the UK charts than her comeback smash Padam Padam.
While some fans and critics suggested Tension wasn’t as instant an earworm as Padam Padam, it debuted at No.19 on its first week of release and was her biggest selling new single of the week in the UK.
Padam debuted at No.26 when it was released in May.
Tension entered the ARIA singles top 50 at No.46 and has generated more than six million streams and video views since its release on September 1.
It comes after Kylie Minogue transformed herself once more with a new racy front page magazine cover for Rolling Stone.
The UK cover features her in a red hot wig ahead of her new album Tension being released in full this month.
It comes as her hotly-anticipated Las Vegas debut residency is the hottest ticket in America right now with fans trading seats to her sold-out shows for almost $4000.
And that price gets you a general admission entry up the back.
The Padam Padam pop superstar will open a new 1000-seat theatre called the Voltaire at the Venetian casino with 20 shows from November to May next year.
Tickets sold out within minutes when the first run of 10 concerts went on sale last month with the online site crashing as her diehard fans – and no doubt millions of scalper bots – swamped the site.
The Australian pop star added 10 more concerts in the intimate 1000-seater and they also sold out quickly.
Now fans are hitting up the American resale sites including Vivid Seats and StubHub which are offering tickets to her opening night performance on November 3 for $3622 to $3917.
The resale prices for her shows far exceed even those for U2 who will open the Venetian’s other new venue the MSG Sphere this month.
Vivid Seats is offering tickets to their opening night on September 29 for $567 for a nosebleed seat at the bigger capacity room which can hold about 18,000 people.
Minogue has been riding a renaissance wave since the release of Padam Padam in May, with the song ticking over more than 68 million streams on Spotify and winning her a new generation of fans on TikTok where it has been used to soundtrack more than 35,000 videos.
Her Vegas debut is shaping up to be a visual feast with couture costuming and staging designed by Derek McLane, whose credits include Moulin Rouge and MJ on Broadway, the Academy Awards and the 2023 Met Gala.
The Emmy and Tony award-winning designer is working on a “modern-day art deco fantasy” production for the Spinning Around pop queen.
The show’s setlist is expected to feature some of her greatest hits including Can’t Get You Outta My Head and All The Lovers and new tracks from her upcoming album Tension, which is released on September 22.
The title track is her latest single and got off to a slow but steady start on streaming services with three million plays over its first week.
