Katy Perry is forging ahead with her pop comeback campaign, despite a decidedly bumpy start.
Perry’s much-hyped comeback single Woman’s World made some dispiriting global chart debuts this week (#47 in the UK, #63 in the US and outside the top 50 here in Australia).
But it’s onto the next, with Perry already prepping a racy music video for another song on her upcoming sixth studio album, 143.
Photos show Perry and an unknown man both clad in their underpants, kissing and caressing each other.
Footage from the shoot that’s circulated on social media reveals that the video is for the song I’m His, He’s Mine, which samples Crystal Waters’ classic 1991 dance track Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless).
That would make it a somewhat surprising choice for a second single, given Perry also road-tested another track from the album, Lifetimes, during a surprise appearance at a Barcelona nightclub over the weekend.
By anyone’s account, the loved-up dance song sounds like more of a surerfire hit than Woman’s World, and the snippets that have surfaced so far have been met with a positive reaction online:

Meanwhile, these first photos suggest the music video for I’m His, He’s Mine will be just as racy as that for Woman’s World.
That video showed Perry strutting through the streets in nothing but a tiny white crocheted G-string bikini, and some robotic metal leg covers, before stopping to “refuel” – by injecting her bare butt cheek with petrol.
Both song and video were met with a swift backlash on social media, due in no small part to Perry’s decision to reunite with controversial pop producer Dr. Luke for the female empowerment-themed track.
Dr. Luke had previously been at the helm for her massive hits like Teenage Dream and Last Friday Night, before the two parted ways as scandal overtook his career.
Fellow pop star Kesha served Dr. Luke, producer of her early hits, with a lawsuit in 2014 alleging emotional distress, sexual abuse and employment discrimination.
Dr. Luke denied all claims, and launched a countersuit against Kesha. In 2023, the two parties announced they had finally reached a joint settlement.
Perry’s upcoming sixth studio album 143 is set for release on September 20.
