Fans will have to pay $2000 for front row tickets to see Madonna in Australia

MADONNA’S Australian tour in March will be her first visit since 1993 — but how much will it cost to be in the front row —$700 more than at One Direction?

MADONNA fans will have to pay $2000 for guaranteed front row tickets to see the music superstar.

Madonna will tour Australia for the first time since 1993 next March, with tickets ranging from $100 to $2000.

Madonna’s Australian visit will see her here for three weeks, playing shows on consecutive weekends.

She will play Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13. The tour then plays Allphones Arena in Sydney on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20, before heading north to Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday March 26 and 27.

Tickets will go on sale at 10am Monday on July 6 through Ticketek.

Lifelong Madonna fan Trent Titmarsh is planning to buy tickets to all six Australian concerts and said $2000 is a savvy investment for the best seats in the house.

“It is worth every cent, I have paid that to see her overseas,” Titmarsh said. “It’s the ultimate experience. No one has seen a live show until they’ve been to a Madonna live show. She is the best in the world, hence why every tour breaks box office records.”

Playing indoor shows rather than stadiums is keeping in line with the rest of the shows around the world, even though it means less tickets can be sold.

“An arena is more intimate, you’re indoors, the sound and lighting is better, everything about it is a better experience for the fan,” Titmarsh said. “And it shows that it’s not about a money grab for Madonna, she could have easily have done 60,000 seat stadiums but it’s about putting on the best show in the world.”

Madonna fans are already hoping the singer will add extra shows during the week (she does not perform on Friday for religious reasons) although promoter Live Nation have no comment on the possibility of more dates.

Fans in Adelaide and Perth have already expressed their anger the tour is skipping their states.

“I feel sorry for anyone outside the East Coast,” Titmarsh said, “but as a fan for 20 years I’ve had to travel overseas to see Madonna. So for a fan in Perth or Adelaide it’s a short internal flight, if you’re a true fan you’ll make it. And she’s the Queen, sometimes you’ve got to go to her.”

Fans should prepare for phone and internet meltdown when tickets go on sale.

There are three different pre-sales before the general public on sale; including a Telstra one.

The communications company angered Bon Jovi fans when the system crashed during a similar presale two years ago.

Madonna’s VIP pricing is more than most superstar acts have charged in Australia.

The Eagles charged $1000 for front row seats this year, the Rolling Stones charged $1275 for tickets in the ‘tongue’ moshpit last year, Sting and Paul Simon charged $765 for front row tickets to their joint tour last year.

Lady Gaga had $1500 VIP tickets, but that included a meet and greet that in some cases went for up to an hour.

Rebel Heart became Madonna’s 11th No. 1 on the Australian charts in March. However a lack of radio support for the singer, which Madonna has called a sign of ageism in the music industry, has seen the singles Living For Love and Ghost Town fail to become major hits.

She released a star-studded single for new single, Bitch I’m Madonna, last week.

Madonna’s last tour in Australia was the Girlie Show in 1993, where she played to nearly 150,000 fans in Melbourne over three shows at the MCG, as well as three shows at the Sydney Cricket Ground and shows at Adelaide Oval and ANZ Stadium in Brisbane.

Her Sticky and Sweet tour in 2008/2009 became the highest grossing tour of all time for a solo artist while the 2012 MDNA tour was that year’s highest-selling tour.

Madonna’s five tours with Live Nation have earned more than $1 billion and sold 7.8 million tickets.
