Elton John denies he’ll play at Trump’s inauguration

A MEMBER Trump’s presidential transition team executive committee told the BBC that Elton John will play the inauguration. But that was news to Elton.

A REP for Elton John denied he will play the inauguration January 20 in Washington, DC, despite claims by a Donald Trump adviser.

“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” the rep said.

Anthony Scaramucci, a member of the Trump presidential transition team executive committee, as well as a vice chair of the presidential inaugural committee, earlier told the BBC: “Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the mall for inauguration.”

Having the Rocket Man singer perform, he continued, “shows our commitment to gay rights.”

John, 69, came out as gay in 1988. The glam pop icon married Canadian filmmaker David Furnish in 2014, when gay marriage became legal in England.

“This will be the first American president in US history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci claimed.

During the campaign, Elton John supported Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“We need a humanitarian in the White House, not a barbarian,” the performer said in October.

Clinton, John said, stood for ”equality, decency, kindness and respect.”

Still, Trump is reportedly a big fan of John, and often played his music at campaign rallies across the country, especially the hit Tiny Dancer.
