YOU’RE more likely to find Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten sleeping after a show than partying.

The trance powerhouse will play in Melbourne and Sydney this month with his side project, Gouryella, as part of trance event, Atlantis.

“I’ll probably go back to the hotel and get some sleep,” Coresten said of his after-show plans.

“But the night can always take a different turn.”

These will be among the first shows Corsten, 42, will perform under the name Gouryella — a project that has been dormant for more than a decade.

“I felt the longing for that type of sound was coming back,” Corsten said, on the phone from his studio.

“Gouryella is very melodic and epic, long melodies — not just a few bleeps here and there.

“The tracks are already a story, in a way.

“What I did with my own sound was slightly harsher ... and with Gouryella, it’s a warm, epic sound.”

Corsten promises a full-scale multimedia performance, which will include critically-acclaimed track Anahera, when he plays his set at trance festival, Atlantis.

“I went back into the studio and retouched all the old tracks,” Corsten said.

“I reproduced them completely from scratch — they sound like how I would produce them today.

“They’re the same sounds but it’s just ... technology today makes music sound a lot tighter than back in 2000.”

Atlantis is on in Sydney at Allphones Arena on March 11 and in Melbourne at Hisense Arena on March 13.
