Coldplay’s Aussie shows next year will tip them into the box office record books.

As the band announced a fourth concert at Sydney’s Accor Stadium, they have notched up sales of more than nine million tickets for the Music of the Spheres world tour.

The British supergroup now hold the record for the most concert tickets sold for a tour.

The fourth Sydney show revealed today will be on November 10.

The general sale for all eight Australian shows in Sydney and Melbourne next November go on sale from 10am on Friday.

Coldplay will also release a limited number of Infinity Tickets for their Australian concerts “at a later date.”

They offer these special seats for every concert on the world tour to make it accessible to fans battling cost-of-living financial pressures.

They cost $32 and could be anywhere in the stadium.

Coldplay will now bring their Music of the Spheres tour to Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on October 30 and 31 and November 2 and 3 and to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 6 and 7 and then November 9 and 10.

It comes as Coldplay fans faced a frustrating couple of hours online to buy tickets to their Music Of The Spheres concert during Wednesday’s pre-sales with the band quickly adding two shows to the Melbourne leg.

The band released pre-sale tickets, which fans had to register to access via the Coldplay website ahead of them going on sale, to new shows at Marvel stadium on November 2 and 3 next year.

Despite the cost of living crisis gripping Australia, demand for the Coldplay shows was at a similar level to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour shows which went on sale in June and released extra ticket recently.

Ticket prices range from $76.39 to $254.65 with higher-priced VIP packages also available.

There was a limit of four tickets per customer for the pre-sale, while fans can buy a maximum of six tickets per customer for the general sale.

The Music of the Spheres concert in October and November next year follow the band’s triumphant first two shows in Perth, brokered by the WA government as exclusives for 2023 to drive tourism to the state.

It was estimated about 40,000 people travelled from interstate to see the gigs.

For those who missed out on going to the Perth shows due to cancelled Virgin flights from Adelaide and Brisbane, Chris Martin and his bandmates generously offered them free tickets to the 2024 shows in Sydney or Melbourne.

The world tour is on target to be one of the biggest global concert jaunts in history with a projected seven million fans catching the joyous explosion of sound and colour during its two and a half year run.

About six hours after the pre-sale opened, Coldplay and Live Nation announced the expected third Sydney show for November 9 at Accor Stadium.

The remaining tickets and VIP packages for all Sydney and Melbourne shows are up for grabs at the general sale from 10am on Friday via ticketek.com.au
